Hikage Onsen

This winter, there was a heavy snowfall at Hikage Onsen, and the snowy scenery was very charming and beautiful. The building, renovated to preserve a nostalgic Showa-era feel, perfectly complements the hot springs. The hot springs have a strong sulfur smell, a milky white color, and a hint of salt, which I really like. The atmosphere of the large public bath and the view of the snowy scenery from the open-air bath were relaxing. However, I felt there were more disappointments than rewards. The hotel has great reviews, but the high level of hospitality was not apparent. First of all, our room was a Japanese-Western style. Since we had children, we asked for two beds to be pushed together. However, in the Japanese-style room, the futon was laid out in the exact center, making it impossible to sit on. It was inconvenient for our two-night stay, so we told them we didn't need it. They said, "Just push it over there, to the corner." What? By us? By ourselves? Even if we pushed it to the corner, the futon mattress couldn't be folded and took up space, so it was in the way. In the end, we carried the heavy load ourselves to the next room and put it away in the closet. The private bath here can be reserved twice a day, but because we were staying multiple nights, there were times during the day when it was available, even if there were day-trippers. When we asked, "Can I use the bath when it's available?", they replied, "No, we can't." The food was really average. It was beautifully presented in small bowls, but to put it bluntly, it reminded me of a supermarket deli. It was a shame, as we were looking forward to it. Perhaps due to heavy snowfall, the shower in the large public bath was out of service from the night of our second night until we returned, but when we left, the person in charge didn't even apologize. No one saw us off when we left, and my husband said, "You look refreshed."

Although it is an old building, it was well cleaned. Despite the small number of employees, they were meticulous. The food is exceptionally delicious. The open-air bath is truly a hidden hot spring!

The response of the employees, the way they explain, the way they talk, they are very good and there is nothing to complain about. bottom. I would definitely like to stay again and will definitely go again.

The room and futon smell like an old man. I've stayed here several times, and there are some rooms that have this smell that bothers me. Even Febreze can't remove it. I'm concerned about whether the linen is washed properly. Also, after paying the bill and drinking coffee, there was no one there when I left, so I took my shoes out of the shoe rack in the back and went home. It seems like they are only concerned about welcoming you. Is this also the case in special rooms? I read a review that day-trippers seem to only take care of guests, but that's not the case. I think it's standard to feel casual on the way home. It's a shame because the bathroom is great.

娘夫婦と宿泊しました。建物はいい感じで古く、きちんと手入れされています。今の建築では表現出来ないノスタルジックな雰囲気が良いです。 温泉の質も良いです。肌の調子が良くなりました。 食事の内容も非常に満足出来ました。普通の人より多く食べる方ですが量も満足です。 当日は満室だったとのことですが、落ち着いた良い時間を過ごすことが出来ました。 紅葉や雪の季節に改めて来てみたいです。
