Die Anfahrt ist wirklich etwas abenteuerlich, möglichst tagsüber anreisen. Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis aber unschlagbar!!!! Gebucht über die Website für nur 90 Euro pro Nacht plus 9 Euro Frühstück pro Person. Großzügige Zimmer und Badezimmer, alles sauber. Anlage sehr gepflegt. Nettes Personal, dieses ist nur Vormittags da. Frühstück überschaubar aber alles was man braucht. Das Obst war so unglaublich lecker! Orangeensaft konnte man sich selbst frisch pressen. Am WE waren viele Portugiesen mit uns auf der Anlage. Montags waren wir fast alleine. Das Frühstück wurde in der Menge angepasst aber nicht in der Auswahl eingeschränkt. Fanden wir gut! Nachwuchs fand die Tiere natürlich super! Milfontes ist nur 10 min mit dem Auto entfernt. Für uns war das ein perfekter Urlaub mit Kleinkind - vielen Dank an das wirklich wirklich nette Personal vor Ort!!!

This is our 3rd (or 4th?) stay at Herdade da Matinha over the years. It has grown and changed, but kept the wonderful simplicity and farm-stay (not your usual, ‘comercial’ resort!) feeling that make it such a special place. Don’t be put-off by the dirt road - it’s a rural setting, the road is well kept and good enough, and you wouldn’t want to spoil the area with yet another tar road in such an important ecological spot. The road to Praia do Malhao is much worse but you shouldn’t miss it either, by the way! Besides the 3 sweet dogs Gina, Paz and Dino (who will disappear at night ), there are at least two cats, horses, sheep roaming in a nearby fence and some wild animals if you are so lucky to spot them. This was a bonus point with my kids. Also, it’s very safe for kids - my boys loved wondering about with a map to explore every corner. The 3 pools (one for adults only) have comfortable decks with shaded areas. Our bedroom was a ‘family farmhouse deluxe’ - simple, no TV, but spacious enough for a mother with two young kids. Breakfast is good - many options available also upon request. Dinner was very good most days - great improvements here since our last stay. Even the kids’ meal is now proper food; tasty, healthier and better balanced! My only suggestion would be to offer a choice of salad to replace the soup (even for children) and a choice of fruit to replace the desert (to help reduce the sugar intake for people staying for longer periods). It’s a set menu (with a vegetarian option), but it worked fine for us. I find laundry too expensive. No ironing is available… There’s a new art gallery in the Herdade as well - be sure to check what’s going on there. Finally, everyone is super nice, cheerful and professional. Defeitos: barulho do ar condicionado do quarto 2, pois a ventoinha está na varanda do quarto 3 (era o nosso) e está solto no chão Deixo uma dica, colocar uma toalha por baixo. Longe do centro/praias (cerca de 2 a 3km), obriga a levar sempre o carro. De resto foi top, piscina muito boa.

Wonderful hosts, room was spacious with luxury linens. Although we were off season, and it was quiet the town itself is a lovely place to stroll around. It is the little things that made this stay special, and I'd list them but then it wouldn't be a surprise. Isabel helped us find a restaurant which was a few doors down, and had fabulous food, and sat down and chatted with is for quite a bit. I would rate this as an upscale boutique hotel, worth the price. next time I would choose the room upstairs that faces the water, what a view!

Nice hotel with a fun interior. Elevator in the middle and a ramp around it to take you upp to the next level, like in a parking garage. Nice decor, art everywhere and clean and quiet. Though if we hade chosen ourselves, a room facing the sea would be nice. This one was booked by our tour manager. Nice restaurant with buffé, best variation I've ever seen. Affordable price with drinks included. Food cooked on demand and excellent breakfast too. Nice view from the restaurant. Storage space for our bicycles in back room. Also nice staff.

Apartment-style hotel, no washing machine, all facilities are a bit outdated. The service staff are very enthusiastic, the environment is good, and it is very close to the beach. It is a good place to watch the sunrise and sunset. The nearby town is worth visiting

Enigma is miles off the beaten track and really special. Beautifully clean and light and airy. The bedrooms were superb and spacious. Elena and Anna were professional and very friendly and charming and attended promptly to all our needs and requests. The swimming pools and facilities were really exceptional and we welcomed the chance to lie in the sun after a hard day's cycling in quite warm temperatures. They laid on a tasty meal - most of us had Chicken Stroganoff- which was very tasty. Our waiter worked hard and efficiently to ensure we were well looked after in the restaurant. The breakfasts were extensive and well presented and tasty. The place was in such a remote location that there was no noise at night. The next morning we cycled off down a dirt track for several miles before we joined more conventional roads!
