We are several couples who meet several times a year for culinary events and wine tastings. We chose the Hotel Liberty. As has already been described several times here, the conversion of a former prison into a hotel has been very successful. The rooms are large and luxuriously furnished. Unfortunately, the promised water was missing in the room. The Aperol Spritz on the terrace was not good either. Lots of ice, lots of Aperol, lots of water, little Prosecco. The menu was excellent with the exception of dessert (the oven-baked slops were completely dry and tough)! The wine list is small and the wines are too expensive for what is on offer. We ordered a 2018 Merlot and were given one from 2022 without comment. When we pointed this out to the waitress, we were told that the wine list had not yet been updated. So she knew exactly what she was bringing us. That is not possible given the restaurant's standards. Unfortunately, our criticism meant that the lady's friendliness decreased considerably for the rest of the evening. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, the egg dishes were prepared á la minute and the ladies who served us were extremely friendly and accommodating.
