FYI: don't arrive after 8pm because there is no food available at the Inn OR in town! The rooms are all close to the noisy bar - that does not have food... The lighting in the room was very dim and thus, difficult to read. Nothing special for over 200.00 a night. Even after talking to a mgr - I still did not receive any discount even tho I stated that I am too old and do not like to do these reviews. Well- here it is. I would not stay here again and I will share that impression with family and friends.

As others have observed, the inn has charm - and thin walls - consistent its construction during the motor touring years. The beds are also nice. On the other hand...if you want quiet sleeping, stay away. Rooms nearer the highway are beset with road noise. Rooms farther back are bombarded with noise from the bar until 10 pm. The thin walls also guarantee than noisy neighbors will be quite audible.

My girlfriend stayed here 3 years ago when my dog was a puppy and took some cute photos of all the dogs hanging by the pool with fellow travelers. It was a magical time I wanted to recreate but my expectations of this stay were sadly not met. I pre-paid $820 for two nights only to find out dogs are no longer allowed in the pool area, a new development not listed with their dog friendly status online. Had I not prepaid I would have driven home. I ended up hanging out with my dog on the room's front porch in 92 degree heat. I could done the exact same at home for free in Venice, CA in 72 degree weather with free water access. The place is listed as pet friendly which I guess now only refers to allowing dogs to stay in your room for $50. With a dog, it was a complete waste of $820.

Very disappointed with the experience. An Ojai local for 30 years and the staff was incredibly rude. Told my friends and I we were off brand for the hotel and asked us to move from the pool to the back of the motel when we were the only guests there. I’ve had positive experiences in the past at this motel so was disappointed by the blatantly exclusionary and discriminatory attitude of the staff. It was beyond insulting and quite unprofessional. I will never go back and will never recommend to family and friends visiting again. The room was not cheap and to be treated so poorly was unacceptable. Hospitable it was not. There are many better options in Ojai if you’re looking for a room.

Ojai Rancho Inn offers a unique hospitalable experience that I've been trying to recreate since visiting last September for my wife's birthday. The room was rustic and cozy. Jacuzzi is a must especially if you're looking for a night in the room instead of out and about town. Either way, the proximity to town is perfect. You need to experience the welcoming community within and around this hotel to know why this is a hotel worth coming back!
