Berkeley River Lodge

This was our first trip to the Kimberly’s and what a fantastic location. Plenty of activities each day including hiking, river cruise, fishing etc. all staff couldn’t do enough to please us and other. guests The food was just sensational with chefs ready and willing to meet any personal needs or just to explain each dish. Views, swimming holes, helicopter tour etc were just breathtaking. Fishing always produced results with fingermark, mangrove jacks, queen fish and others all landed including a number of Barra with a 90 cm Barra being the top prise. Don’t let this wonderful escape pass you by. We will be booking another stay in 2025. David & Lee-Anne

Fantastic from all aspects staff,food ,activities . The accommodation is very good quality and an experience in itself. All the staff are committed to the wilderness and nature and can really help you understand just how severe the country really is in the kimberley

Outstanding experience in a remote, secluded, pristine environment. Villas very comfortable. Nightly degustation meal a special feature. Excursions provided an opportunity to see the ancient land, waterways, flora and fauna. Photographed many unique birds on the Bush Drive. Highlight was the helicopter flight. Staff friendly and attentive. Enjoyed meeting people with different backgrounds and life experiences.

If you are reading this then you are probably thinking about going. MAKE THE BOOKING! You won’t regret it. It’s an amazing place in an awesome location, and you will be welcomed and cared for by an amazing team. From the moment you land at the air*****, with champagne to toast your arrival, until the minute you say goodbye with hugs for the staff who have called you by name for your entire stay, it’s just an amazing experience. It’s completely different to anywhere else we have stayed - and the countryside is the most beautiful you will see. No request was too much trouble for the amazing team, Issy’s food was first class, the excursions were great, and we enjoyed EVERY minute! Probably ate and drank more than we normally would though!

What an incredible way to experience a small taste of the Kimberley. Amazing and fun activities and a Chef who delivered delicious meals and wine pairings each day 🍷 The Villa's were nicely appointed with magnificent views and the swimming pool a welcome way to cool down during the day. We will definitely be returning for this wonderful holiday 🤩

We cannot rate our stay at Berkeley Rive Lodge highly enough. The staff at all levels were wonderful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The food and drinks service was fantastic with every night a different meal experience with a great wine selection. Breakfast and lunch were also top notch. The excursions were varied and fun with the guides providing a commentary that was always interesting and educational. From the river cruise to the fishing trip, the beach drive and the hike to our helicopter flight which provided the perfect end to our stay, the whole experience was amazing.

STOP thinking about booking Berkeley River Lodge… just book it, you will not be disappointed. Words and phots do not do it justice to experiencing it first hand. From the moment you get on the plane at Kunnanara, the feel is amazing. We feel so lucky that we have been one of the privileged to get to stay here and experience the beauty of the area. Villas are minimalist luxury and nothing is too much effort for the staff. Food was delicious every meal and you never went hungry and never felt bloated. Picnic esky’s on all trips had everything you would want. The fact that they took the planning away from you and did it all was great - a week of not having to make any decisions, was our kind of week. Trips / experiences were great and all guides so knowledgeable. We were in villa 16 - aka Berkeley Heights - furthest group away but well worth it - the most stunning sunrises across the sea each day. It would be rude to not do some shout outs, but hard as every staff member was lovely, helpful and always smiling, but Dempsey and Hannah, Scoot with his stories and Anna, with her lovely smile and happy to have a laugh and a crack with us pomms and my hubby a fellow Scotsman and chef Izzy! Lastly, to Bruce one of our guides - what he doesn’t know about the area and history for 100s of kilometres around isn’t worth knowing - you could sit and listen to him for ours and not get bored! Experience trips were fab seeing all sorts including the crocs! Loved it loved it loved it. Would we go back - hell yes, but so many other places to see first, then we’ll be back. This is a special place. The cabins are all identical but vary in orientation and distance from the main lodge. Ours looked SE over the river mouth but if able to choose I would take one of 14-20 which have easterly ocean views. Included excursions are a 6 hour Berkeley River cruise, a bush hike, beach drive and fishing trip. These will be booked for you and advised on arrival but if you’d like to skip one, double up or whatever just ask. The staff will do their best to accommodate you. We did the lot and just loved it all A helicopter ride is also possible for an additional AUD1000 p/p. Everyone who we asked raved about them but we balked at the cost. One cannot help but feel privileged to be here in this remote location. I loved the food, interesting combinations of tastes and thoughtfully done. Dinner was the highlight, a four course meal with matched wines. I didn’t feel pampered - it’s not that kind of place. There’s no gym, spa or hairdresser but that isn’t what we came for. We did receive true blue Aussie hospitality and met some wonderful folk, both staff and other guests. Our 5 day stay was just the right length. A once in a lifetime splurge.
