The place was extremely unhygienic, there was mould everywhere, sofas were dirty and not properly cleaned. The rooms were cold and the provision of heating was limited. The food was pathetic, I had to go to the kitchen and guide the staff with cooking

The location and property were good. I had to give a low rating because of callous attitude and lack of customer service from Saffron Stays. I would have given them 1 star if not for some of the in-house staff. Extremely poor communication on part of the ***agement of Saffron Stays which resulted in an unreasonably high room charge tainted our stay. When we booked over a phone call we clearly stated our needs. 2 beds for 3 people. We were also told clearly that we can take a single suite with 2 rooms and 2 beds. The problem was when we arrived we saw they had assigned 2 suites instead of just 1 suite with 2 beds. Every suite has 1 large main bedrooms and spacious 2 bedroom and sometimes an extra 3rd spacious room as a dressing room. Saffron Stays made the mistake of assigning us 2 suites instead of 2 beds. From our multiple tedious conversation with them what was clear was that Saffron Stays does not care about the customer or service. They do not even know what the layout of the various rooms in their properties. They will not learn from their mistakes because they do not acknowledge they made one. Their point was we paid for the 2 suites already and they will not refund. The agent on their side Mariam seemed to have put us on hold while we were stating our point. She seemed to have disappeared and not actually listen and after ***y a “hello hello are you there”, she comes back on the phone and reluctantly says “ I heard everything ill take it up with my superiors”. Saffron Stays has also not taken the time to train their homestay staff on how to handle guests. Udhay was a young college going student working as our in-house point of contact. He was extremely polite and eager to help. I would give him 5 stars for his commi**ent to his job and trying very hard. But he could not help when the cook refused to make us dinner because it was “too late!” And the chef had already left the premises!!!! I mean we were letting them know at 6.15pm about our meal at 8.30pm and we were told it was too late to place an order and that we should have told them much earlier in the day. We were just hungry and a simple Dal rice and pickle would have sufficed. The chef could have said that elaborate meals were n to possible and could have offered us a simple meal. We would have been grateful and would have raved about their service. But NO! We were turned away twice by the chef and that was totally unexpected from a homestay which supposedly provides all meals. We were told we need to have informed well ahead of time. If 2 hours was not considered ahead of time, pray tell, what is!!!! Turning guests away at mealtime was not hospitality. So I had to take away a few stars in the rating. Lionel the ***ager did his best to connect us with Saffron Stays ***agement and he was pleasant in all our communications with him. Had a lovely stay at Saffron stays Milton Abbott estate Bungalow... Special shout-out to the staff headed by Mr. Lionel, they were simply awesome! All our requests were heard and implemented by the very courteous staff, especially Uday. The food deserves a special mention... It was great, we kept coming back from our sight seeing trips to have food at the home stay only... Thanks a lot for our lovely experience at Ooty!

Such a well-maintained beautiful property, not a single tip of my fingers could find dust in any corner, clean, beautiful place, well a maintained garden and fireplace. If you are fond of wooden heritage look n feel house, nthg can get better than this one. The decor speaks the owner's choice The food is yum and so tasty, perfect traditional south Indian style food is what we de***ded for. One day we also had barbeque as suggested by the caretaker with some amazing roasted chicken. The perfect experience of being treated like ur cared for. Mr Lionel was the caretaker, such a humble n kind ***, always around when voiced for & Uday young boy, soft-spoken and humble. Highly Recommended

Had a grt stay at Milton…fabulous heritage property…took us back in time Lionel who ***ages the property took good care of us.. very humble & caring Special mention for Alwin who prepared chicken & mutton curry to die for… highly recommended and also Udhay for his exceptional service… Its a very nice property if ure going in a smwhat big group… we were a family of 3 people and the rooms were so huge that reaching the bathroom at night which was quite far spooked us reminding us of all d horror movies shot in ooty 😊

We chose this place because of the reviews that we saw on TripAdvisor and MMT. But this has been truly one of our worst experiences ever. Here are the reasons: They spam you with too ***y messages before you come and literally ask you when you will arrive. 1. We updated every information that was requested for but when we arrived at the stay, the place was desserted. Noone even picked up a phone call - even the caretaker (if he exists). Our driver had to literally sneak into the kitchen to pull somone out and show us our room 2. Absolutely ZERO Covid protocols followed. Noone wears a mask or uses sanitizers. You can see people sneeze and still continue to clean utensils 3. Pathetic food! Cold and tasteless! They mentioned they will serve us upma but what we woke up to was ice cold idiyappam and watery coconut milk 4. Damn expensive worthless dinner - we were charged 300 for no quality chicken 65. No choice but to eat there but then! Truly not worth a bit 5. We requested a half hour extension post 11 to pack our stuff. They said not possible for a minute after 11 cause they have other guests coming - well, they do not allow you to step in before 1 pm After seeing the hygiene, we refused to even have food there (even the breakfast). Well someone even calls you after you share the review after your visit but when you tell them the truth they do not even bother to get back! Horrific. We stayed in remote places before visiting this place and they had much better hospitality and service. Being in the centre of the city this is ridiculous!
