Howard Johnson by Wyndham Newburgh/West Point

The reservation promised a coffee maker in the room. There was none. When I inquired at the desk I was told they haven't provided coffee makers in the rooms for years but there was coffee available 24 hrs. a day in the breakfast room by the lobby. The coffee there tasted as though it had been there for a few days. As for the light breakfast, there were some English muffins to toast, a few pre-wrapped pastries and some granola bars. LIGHT was the operative word for breakfast. Sometimes we had hot water in the room, sometimes we didn't. The facility had seen better days and the musty smell that greeted us upon arrival to our room seemed to dissipate after a while. Repairs had been done by a handyman who evidently had good intentions but little maintenance experience. Doors to the maintenance rooms that were left open to the hallways did not enhance the ambiance any more than the view into rooms that were used for storage. Finally, when we checked out we were unable to get a receipt to show the actual charges to our room. We had a prepaid reservation for two nights of our stay and had a receipt for those two nights before we left home, but we added a third night which we arranged directly with the hotel by phone. When the desk clerk was unable to print a receipt for the extra night he promised he had sent it directly to our email. When we arrived home to check our email the receipt that had been sent did not reflect the charge for the additional night. My bad- NEVER AGAIN will I book a prepaid hotel room!

Room was spotless. Bed was comfortable and clean. Overall will definitely stay again!

Room was spotless and smelled good when we walked in. Carpet was clean. Bed was super comfortable with crisp clean sheets. Stayed an extra 2 days!

This place should be condemned. Whole building smells like mold and smoke. We did not stay. We walked into the room and took a quick look. Carpet had rips and a large stain that looked like blood. Chair was all tattered. Bathroom has loose tiles and caulk falling off. Doors were heavy metal, like a jail cell. The whole place was smelly, dirty and felt like a horror movie. I've stayed in plenty of lackluster hotels, but I've never walked out before this. Worst part was the manager at the desk guaranteed me a refund. Said she would handle it and I didn't need to contact *******. She never did. And ******* refused to offer a voucher. Awful experience all around.

Mostly OK, but when there was a boil water order in effect for the city, front desk did not decide to tell anyone. When asked about whether coffee or water was boiled, was told it was "hot" and that was "good enough". Hope no one gets sick...

Is spacious and comfortable rooms

Check out time is 11am. I went to get coffee and returned to the room at 10am. The cleaning lady was in my room. She drink my ice tea in the refrigerator. She was eating my potato chips, and she stole a gift i had on the dresser. I was so disgusted about her being in my room and eating my stuff i totally forgot about the gift. I called the property around noon and they retrieved the gift for me.
