A real find! The accommodation was excellent with great attention to detail and very clean. Very convenient location in the centre of Town. The Owner had gone the extra mile and decorated it for Christmas. Would highly recommend.

Having read some harsh reviews I was really wondering if I'd made the right choice in booking. On arrival we were greeted at reception by 2 lovely ladies who were more than helpful and given the keys to our room in block E. The room was spotless, plenty of space for myself and my husband. Yes we could hear the noise of the road but honestly it didn't spoil the holiday. The whole complex is spotlessly clean. All the staff we met greeted you with a smile and hello. The pool bar staff were fantastic, never waited long for a drink. Mealtimes we always found something to eat and a table. The resort is out of the way so if you feel you could drive then a car would be helpful. There is a 5 minute walk through the forest to the local beach which has some lovely bars and shops. If your looking for a party/boozy holiday this is not place for you so please do your research as the harsh reviews aren't needed. Would we return???? Absolutely

What a fabulous week! My wife, son and I stayed at the Philoxenia for a week at the end of October and it was the perfect holiday. The resort was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We had a two bed family room with a lovely balcony facing the pine forest and all the facilities we needed. The beach is a short walk away either down the steps or the longer gentle slope and the sands were fabulous. I'm sure it is much busier in the summer months but we loved the sleepy village feel, the Greek restaurants still open and the incredible beach. The weather was amazing and we spent most of our time on the beach relaxing (free sunbeds if you got a drink from the bar above), swimming in the very clear and calm sea and even having a go on a pedalo! We had a couple of wonderful short walks along the beach too and there are great views. There was a car hire place too if you wanted to explore further. The hotel was great with staff going out of their way to make our stay so special, especially Ioanna who looked after us at the restaurant. We were half board so had breakfast and dinner and the food was brilliant. Being in Greece we wanted to eat Greek food so it was perfect, with a wide selection of different Greek salads, mains and desserts every day! There were also cereals and toasts for breakfast as well as bacon, eggs, fruits etc. And at dinner there was always pasta available and sometimes chips, nuggets but we were in our element with the freshly cooked meat dishes, stuffed peppers etc. The staff work so hard and constantly refresh the dishes. It was all so delicious! Compliments to the chef and his team. Being half board we found a supermarket a short walk down the main road (Family) for a few supplies but we also visited the Almyra restaurant on the seafront- great food and lovely staff. The hotel itself had a great main pool, and the staff were wonderful. From the reception staff, to the cleaners, to the bar/restaurant staff and the entertainment everyone was so friendly and made us feel so welcome and looked after. A stunning place with a great culture and atmosphere. We will definitely be looking to go back! Many thanks 😊

Our stay here room was good but the block we stayed in had some traffic noise that was the only negative thing I can say about the hotel. Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable balcony was of good size and it was cleaned every day except Sunday. The food was always good with plenty of. choice, so thank you restaurant staff and kitchen staff. Service in the bar and pool area was great the drinks were good and the atmosphere was great, entertainment on evening ok,the bands were good. Hotel kept clean and tidy all the time ,all in all we had a fantastic time here at the philoxenia hotel. Thank you again to all the staff. Loved it.

We both stayed at this hotel for a week in early October. On the whole previous reviews were favourable but the odd one popped up which seemed very critical so we were a bit apprehensive. However, I can genuinely say that the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We were on an All Inclusive basis and in all honesty it was fantastic value for money. All staff were very helpful and attentive, from those in the restaurant to all the bar staff. The system for ordering drinks worked very well and we never had to wait. Our room was of a contemporary design, decent size and cleaned every day. Regards the food, it was absolutely fine with emphasis on Greek- style salads etc but ample choice of more standard fayre for those with a preference for British dishes. One person we spoke to said they didn’t like Greek food or the alternatives which I would say was unfair. If you want A La Carte then go to a 5 * plus and pay considerably more . My only observation would be that sometimes the food could have been a bit warmer . Heated plates would have been a simple solution for this. Occasional issue. The specialist restaurant which you could visit once a week was excellent with attentive waiter service in a pleasant al fresco setting. There are two pools which were cold and really only suitable for a quick dip. This was disappointing as we were under the impression that at the beginning and end of the season the hotels own website stated that the pools would be heated during this period. The beach can be reached via 3 walking routes from the hotel (5/10 minutes) but is no great shakes as the sand is of a gritty nature. The beach front bars were quiet as it was season-end but in high summer I imagine that this area would be busy and have more of a vibe. The hotel is adjacent a main road and built on a slight hill. It is fair to say that the rooms at the foot of the hill were closer to the road and subject to more noise. We were in a pool view room at the opposite end of the site which was very quiet. Evening entertainment was fairly low key but this was made clear from the reviews posted. My only other observation would be that the person I assumed to be the manager kept a very low profile. Bizarrely he was the only staff member who didn’t sport a name badge which gave me the impression he didn’t want to engage with his guests which I thought rather odd considering the ship was well-run. Would we return? Absolutely.

Lovely hotel, we have just got back from a weeks break, rooms are clean and spacious, only downside there was 3 coat hangers each and no draw space or shelves so some items had to stay in the case, but not a problem. Food plenty of choice and we always found something. Pool was great a little cold, drinks are served by waiters no problems and also a good choice, 5 min walk down to beach handful of tervernas very quiet, looking for nightlife this is not the place for you, all in all we had a great relaxing week and we will return in the future

I had a lovely relaxing week on my own with half board at the hotel. It's feels kind of homely, the staff are friendly and the buffet food was really good and of a large variety (the salads at dinner were fantastic!). The sandwiches from the pool bar at lunchtime were outstanding! Everywhere is very clean and there's table service around the pool and at dinner. I never had a problem getting a sunbed either and it's only a few minutes walk to the beach. WiFi is chargeable to the room although free in the pool area. Toiletries smelt amazing and replenished. This isn't a party resort, there's a few bars a Positives: good food, lovely people, close to the beach, plump pillows, not too noisy, relaxing, easy to chat to people the cats! Negatives: reception was quite unfriendly on arrival, the bed needed a new mattress and there's nowhere near enough hangers in the room. WiFi is chargeable to the room although free in the pool area. Would definitely go again.
