Room was good, we didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment hotel lovely. Shame not able to have parking but the long term park isn't far and only £4 for 23 hours. But we arrived on market day and couldn't stop outside to offload so had to trail all our stuff from there to hotel.

This was our second stay at The Golden Lion and we enjoyed it as much as the first which is reassuring. The staff are always ver friendly and helpful, the room very comfortable and the food very good. I left my mobile phone on our room when we checked out and didn’t realise this until we arrived home. The cleaner had handed it in and Jake made sure that it was returned to me in a very secure way which is very reassuring. Well done and thank you to everyone at The Golden Lion. Les Johnson

Our stay was unexpectedly excellent. We usually stay at chain Hotels as “you know what you’re getting” but decided to try the Hotel due to its great location in the first instance and the photos and reviews were good. We were not disappointed. The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were well decorated, clean and had all we needed. The food was excellent! The restaurant and bar areas were large and comfortable. All in all a very good experience.

We stayed here with our li’l doggo and he was so excited. The hotel was beautiful and the room was lovely, complete with doggy gifts and a food bowl, so welcoming. The staff were very friendly and food was delicious. Great position right in the town and along distance to the river. Couldnt fault it, highly recommend

Meeting over a bar meal. Service adequate, polite staff. Range of beers good and also a big range of food options. However I had fish and chips, the options include a large portion. I didn't go for the large and the standard portion was distinctly short of fish, batter and skin was what I received wrapped around about a small fingers worth of fish. Terrible value. Four others if my group had the same, we were too busy to discuss the food and due to local parking limitations soon afterwards had to leave .

We had a lovely lunch today. Our waitress was excellent but absolutely run off her feet. If there were any other waiting staff we didn’t see any sign of them and it was very busy with long waits despite her best efforts. The hotel should employ more than one waitress.
