This is a one-of-a-kind. It's a beautiful building inside and out that oozes opulence and character. My room was exceptional and very theatrical in style. Great bed, big rooms, and an overnight I will not forget. Breakfast was good and plenty of choice. I can thoroughly recommend for singles or couples.

Very luxurious manor house nestled in the beautiful village of Painswick. Bed was very comfortable, room was spacious, and breakfast was filling. The room decor could be more tastefully furnished for a manor house of such elegance but I appreciate tastes differ. When we arrived at the front gates it looked like a private property and when we asked if this was the Court House Manor Hotel I was swiftly corrected by a gentleman that it was a b&b - he later turned out to be one of the owners and sadly it set the tone for the stay; he wasn't very warm or welcoming but the staff themselves were all lovely and helpful. Was nice for a night but at £153 it felt overpriced and we stayed in much friendlier equally luxurious hotels on our trip across the west country for much less.

We stayed here for our 1st anniversary in the King Charles suite. The receptionist was friendly and mentioned where breakfast is served but made no mention of dinners or a bar. Our room was very olde worlde just as we had expected with lots of dark oak panelling and chunky, wonky floorboards. The 2 stainless steel mixed with leather chairs were quite unnecessary though and didn’t fit the room, a couple of Chesterfields would have been far better, or none at all as there are lovely window seats. The bed was large, comfortable and very luxurious. The bathroom was large and had a big bath in as well as a shower. We think the room was missing some glasses for water otherwise you’re left drinking from the mugs supplied with coffee and tea in the room. The breakfast was buffet style and had everything it needed with cooked and continental style. It may have been nice for locally sourced food (unless it was already but not mentioned). All in all we had a lovely stay with just a couple of bits that could have been improved but would return and recommend to anyone thinking about staying here.

The security measures are more than adequate. The room was very small and had low beams which needed to be ducked under. The stairs to room were circular and very awkward to carrying suitcase. The bed was situated such that the sunlight from the only window shown in our face when we sat in bed. There was one chair which we used for placing our suitcase The only rod for hanging clothes was too low to hang pants. Had to buy adapter for outlet as there were none to borrow. There was only one outlet accessible. The backyard looked beautiful but was locked and is open only a few times per year. Very little room outside to sit. The living room was fine but only had two couches. Breakfast was the same every day

I misread the check in time. Sunday evening I was going to arrive at 9pm as traffic Was poor leaving London, and at 730 was sent an email (while driving) setting out T&Cs for late check ins (past 8pm), including £25 cash, which also could not be guaranteed. The man rang me and then said he ‘rang round’ to see if others would be available to let me in, but they weren’t, and told me I wouldn’t get the £105 (inc breakfast) refunded. Unbelievable. Wouldn’t leave a key or give me gate codes either. Or let me pick up keys from him (as he had a prior commi**ent to go to). Never heard of anything like it before.

A beautiful property with tastefully decorated rooms, full of character. It was wonderful coming back to Painswick after all these years (I lived in Sheepscombe) and a fabulous place to stay. Breakfast was also delicious, in the unusually decorated dining area. Would highly recommend. Would also recommend the Sunday roast at the Butchers Arms Sheepscombe if I may!

A great stay in a picturesque location. I stayed in the Cleopatra room situated on the second floor. The room is compact but comfortable and quiet, my only gripe is that is says ‘Coffee Maker’ but it’s just a kettle ! Breakfast was great and would definitely recommend and stay here again when in the area.

My wife picked this B&B with a pin for my birthday and it greatly exceeded our expectations at the price. The building itself has enough character to be a small National Trust property but it has been modernised inside and was very comfortable, Breakfast was fairly normal self service and included an option of gluten free cereal and non-dary milk. They were not doing evening meals when we were there but there are several good alternatives within easy walking distance. St Michaels (maybe 150 yards away) was good for food The decor was fascinating. We had what looked like antiques of Chinese origin in our room and the whole house was decorated and furnished in a way that was quirky but tasteful. The staff member we interacted with mostly (Tania) could not have been more helpful and just seemed to be on duty all the time We arrived after dark, which was interesting as Painswick has narrow streets. I'd recommend planning your arrival in daylight if you can

What a beautiful house , We arrived in the dark early evening 5.15 no signs to say how to find reception I walk around the house finally finding the side area with patio doors , we were greeted by a lovely young lady , who told us about breakfasts and should us through a kitchen to a lounge then up to our room at the top of the house , cleopatra room , quite a small room with a double bed Iv not seen the likes of it was like a bed on top of a bed that’s thee only way I can describe it , I’m 5ft tall quite difficult to get up on it she even said “or ur need a step “ Wish I had one we did say we might stay another night she have availability so looked ok at this point we went down to the lounge and got drinks and sat in the lounge for a couple of hours and then went to bed we did read there was a number to call through the evening if any problems as not a managed reception, Oh wow the heat in this room was of any heat Iv ever felt I tried to turn the radiator of which I though I had also the thermostat to the — - sign so thinking done no this was not going if at any point we opened windows and realising no staff around tried to sleep with the fear of falling of the bed as the hight of it was quite a different experience, I would have preferred white sheets but that just my preference not black /brown sheets rooms were clean and tidy I did look at other rooms on this floor and was disappointed we got the room we got , Breakfast was served in a morrocan style room which was lovely gardens and staff are friendly and helpful , would recommend the b and b but not that room a bit small wouldn’t recommend this with the bed size and not being able to control the heating , and that why we didn’t stay another night .
