B&B Hotel Palermo Quattro Canti Reviews

Overall a good hotel. Location is excellent, central to most of the major sights. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Breakfast not too exciting. Our one big drawback was the advertised free parking is not free. It costs €10 a night and we were not made aware of this before hand. The parking garage is not based at the hotel but further down the street and is very difficult to drive to. Normal procedure is to call the hotel and they ask you to pull over on a busy road and a parking attendant will come and get you. He then keeps the car and car keys at his garage and will bring the car out on request from the hotel. The system worked well once we were aware but again it caused some stress and confusion on our first night driving around a busy city. And driving in Palermo is not for the faint hearted!

We received room diferrently looking than on pictures, airconditioning need to be cleaned, we did not use it, due to the smell. Breakfast generally ok, but scrambled eggs need some improvement, did not prepare fresh. Building located in strict centre, which was good for base location for visiting, however during night earplugs needed. Amazing view from the tarrance, however only one big umbrella which cover just few tables from sunlight. Generally stay was ok, taking into account the price, however need some improvement.

It didn't start brilliantly when I was told I didn't have breakfast so I had to show on my saved screen that I had and then the room I was given was on the second floor on an inner facing courtyard (see dark pic below which was the room darkness taken at 10.30am). I had to have the lights on at all times to see. It did not matter so much the first day as I needed to sleep in the afternoon rather than enjoying the comforts as had been travelling since midnight but on the second morning, I asked the wonderful Giseppe to change if possible. I was given the second room which had more light and a bath. I do sometimes find prejudice towards single travellers on my travels and sometimes that can be extended to single women travellers too but I do get annoyed paying only a few pounds less than a rate for a couple and being given a substandard room/view. To be clear, the decor was lovely but the light was just to depressing for me coming from the UK where sun, light and warmth is less all year round.
