Hotel Atitlan

This hotel exceeded every expectation. The food was absolutely amazing, while the prices are comparable to what you’d pay in the U.S., every meal was worth it. The quality, flavor, and overall experience made it a standout. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The bartenders were experienced and made some amazing drinks. A special thank you to Hector, the manager, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. His thoughtfulness and commitment to excellent customer service did not go unnoticed. If you’re on the fence, stop thinking about it and just book this hotel. You won’t regret it.

FANTASTIC hotel! Highly recommend. The rooms are super cute - and the resort is amazing! Great service, good food, and great location. Love the grounds, the gardens are beautiful. The pool is great - and my fave was the hot tub every evening.

I returned yesterday from a wonderful tour to the Central American country of Guatemala. I traveled with my brother and his wife. Our tour was arranged by Caravan.com. I highly recommend the both the tour and Caravan, an amazing value. Guatemala is a beautiful country filled with mountains and valleys. Guatemala also has a rich culture and Maya and Spanish history. Its people are pleasant and helpful. It is a safe place to visit in my opinion. I saw nothing to the contrary. Interestingly, the country has a twelve month crop growing season. Gorgeous flowers bloom almost everywhere. I felt most comfortable in the cool (not cold) mountain air that I understand is typical year round. (I am really going to miss the cool mountain air over the summer months. My home is located in deep south Texas!) Our tour guide-director, Virginia, was excellent! She is most knowledgeable about the country and its rich history. She was always pleasant and forthcoming. Virginia's English and Spanish is excellent. She also speaks French. How about that? ( I understand that Virginia has guided tours in Guatemala for 25-30 years. I believe such to be absolutely true.) Virginia greatly added to my knowledge and my enjoyment of the tour. Travel Guatemala with Caravan. You will not be disappointed. Especially if Virginia is your tour guide-director. Blessings- Craig

BEAUTIFUL hotel (some of the lighting in the review photos can make it look dated, that's absolutely not the case). Gardens were gorgeous and our room was so comfortable with the most amazing view. Pool and hot tub were awesome. We enjoyed our time lounging by the pool. Giving this hotel an average review because the service was kind of weird. There was a language barrier with all of the staff (which is to be expected) but their willingness to help navigate the language barrier could be improved. I had bad stomach problems one of the days of our stay and my husband tried to order plain food (bread, crackers, whatever) from the hotel and there was nobody on staff who could assist. When we checked in I don't think we were given all the pertinent information (massages booked up, paddle boarding only before noon, adding a card to our account so we could charge to the room) and it impacted our stay. That being said - we would come back again! We had a very nice time! Writing this post only to level set expectations service wise.

Lovely hotel in a stunning location overlooking the volcanoes on Lake Atitlan. Beautiful well maintained extensive gardens and lovely swimming pool with lake view. Spacious rooms with great views. Delicious food particularly the buffet breakfast at the weekend, so much choice you don’t know where to start. Dining staff very friendly and great choice of food.

On arrival I was given a piece of paper and told that it was my WIFI. I spent about an hour that afternoon trying to get Winfield in my room but was unable to do so. I went to the front desk for help and was told “ here is your WIFi” Back in the room it wouldn’t work again. So back to the front desk where I was finally told that the WiFi only works in the lobby .i think I should have been told this at checkin. After my first lunch I signed it to my room as I always do when dining at the hotel. Within five minutes there was a knock on my door saying that the front desk needed my credit card number. They should have asked for this at checkin. Also service in the restaurant is very slow At dinner last night I waited 25 minutes before anyone came to take my order. The menus are grubby and the drinks folder needed rebinding
