Hotel Oratio

Everything was small except the price. The elevator is so small my wife and I could not get into it with our luggage at the same time. We had to split up. The room is so small that it does not have a closet or furniture besides a tiny desk/chair. No place to open luggage except the bed. The shower head does not rotate so you can angle it down. You have to remove and hold the shower head to shower. You have to give the desk your room key when you go out. Pay the fee extra Euros and go to a regular size hotel. BTW- the staff was friendly.

I stayed over for a short trip. The rooms are somewhat small but very clean. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was good and the breakfast service wonderful. I’d stay here again when I’m in Paris next.

Staff was friendly, but the beds were old and had dips

Location is the only thing we appreciated about this hotel and it’s been well documented by other reviewers. We stayed for NYE 2023 and it was such a bad experience I’ve been meaning to write this review ever since. Perhaps we just happened to get the worst room in the place, but it was $300 per night and it was the smallest room with the smallest ‘double’ bed we’ve ever had (including Tokyo). It would have been suitable for 1 person maximum to be in there, I kept double checking I haven’t accidentally booked a single room it was so tiny. You could not have the suitcase open and still walk around the bed, it was hard enough with it closed. The tiny room was on the top floor and was hot and stuffy, even though you have your own split system unit in your room we had no option to turn the air conditioning on- as it was winter it was set to heating only apparently (it took talking/following up with several staff members over several days just to have this confirmed). Due to the heat and the tiny uncomfortable bed we had 6 very bad nights sleep here. Speaking of the staff the customer service was very poor, you were lucky if you got acknowledged at all when you walked in particularly at night when the man at the desk was too busy watching soccer on his iPad to even look up. And they certainly didn’t seem concerned about our feedback that the room was stifling hot and we were getting no sleep, they’d tell you it would be looked into and then never talk to you again. Awful, would not recommend.

You will hear bells at around sunrise from the church across the street. Those bells have a built in snooze function. It was still very pleasant and beats any other street noise you get from any city. That part of town seemed like its own little town. The hotel was clean and quaint. We were fascinated by the tiny elevator and the lovely architecture. The staff were wonderful. Everyone I came into contact that worked there at the Oratio (in the petit dejeuner; front desk; cleaning staff) were extremely helpful and friendly.
