I stayed at Hotel De Dieppe for 2 nights. I chose it for 2 reasons: 1. The location is great, right next to the metro station Saint Lazare. There are cheaper hotels, but they are all in the suburbs of Paris. 2. The price was not high, and I was able to use a 20% gift certificate to get a lower price. I would stay here again. The hotel is very close to the metro station Saint Lazare, which takes you to the main attractions in Paris. There are many restaurants, cafes, and shops around the hotel, so you don't have to walk far if you want to go shopping. Not far away is a church that looks very special. The people I met at the reception were very friendly and spoke some English. My room was on the third floor next to the stairs and elevator, but there was no noise. The room was small, but I have stayed in smaller rooms in Europe. The bed was actually two single beds pushed together with wheels, but it was easy to separate. The room was clean, but I think the sheets had not been washed since the previous guest left, and although there was no odor, there was no fresh smell after washing. There was a small 5-6 inch TV in the room, which showed 5 channels. The bathroom was small, but clean. Towels were changed every day. My only complaint about the room was the noise from the cars on the street and trucks coming late at night. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep well. The free breakfast was good. Oh and yes, try to avoid the 1st floor rooms (any room number 1) if you like to come in late and sleep in the breakfast area right outside your door. You can ask for 1 croissant, 1 roll, butter, jam, orange juice, milk, coffee and tea. For the location and price, I don't think there is a better budget 2 star hotel in Paris, and certainly don't expect 3 or 4 star standard accommodation.
