I do not speak French at all and had not been to Paris since 1987(!) I decided to visit Paris for 3 nights after a 2 week vacation to Spain since all of the good return flight options for my needs routed through CDG, why not check out Paris on the way home. I did very little research on Paris and decided to pick the St Germain neighborhood as a base. I picked this hotel based on some other reviews and since it seemed close to the river, I thought I'd be able to just walk to the other side of the river easily if I wanted to. Turns out, that was exactly the case. It is an easy walk to the river and pretty much right across from the Louvre. I walked to Notre Dame, too, which is right there. I spent most of my time in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. Pretty much in every direction there are great shopping, cafes, and restaurants and the a**osphere is lively but way less hectic/chaotic than on the right side of the river. The people at the front desk spoke English which was nice since I do not speak French, and check in and check out was super easy. The hotel has an old charm and feel to it and the room was small, but with everything I needed. This is not a fancy modern hotel, but a bit older feeling, which kind of just adds to the charm of the experience of visiting Paris. I was able to catch a cab to the hotel from the Gare de Lyon train station easily and was able to get an Uber to the airport early in the morning no problem. Although, I believe the metro to catch the train to/from the airport is a short walk from the hotel as well, if you wanted to use that method.
