It's beyond me that this hotel receives such high rating on TripAdvisor. I'm rather confident there is fouls play to it. When entering the lobby an extrem artificial odor will hit you and it's to the extreme that any asthmatic or smell sensitive person will find this difficult to tolerate. We were in room 404, courtyard room, and we took the elevator there. The elevator is absolutely cramped, maximum I would say 90 x 90 cm and two normal sized people with a minimum of luggage will struggle to make it in one go. However, the chock hits you when you exit the cramped elevator and when you realized the narrow corridors, they are narrow, with low ceiling and gives you an immediate sense of being in a confined area with absolute no windows or natural daylight. The carpets I'm sure are from mid 1970:s and you can actually feel the floor wood play under you feet in the corridors as well as the stairs. At this stage my wife started having anxiety and expressed a sensation of an up-coming panic attack Finally in room 404 we were greeted by a small, dark room with a few windows facing the small and narrow courtyard. However, the room was very dark and the windows had fabric blinds that simply were installed so that the only way you could let daylight in was by opening the windows. But as you realize opening the windows for prolonged time in a cold mid-march Paris is not a viable option. However, you definitely had incentive to open the windows as the room had an exceptionally bad air quality, and the old carpet really was giving up som bad odor that together with the cramped, dark room with no natural daylight simply made the 2-night stay unbearable. On the good side, the hotel should not give you any long waiting lines to check-in, but be aware that the entrance is very petite and our taxi driver missed it twice.
