I had a truly spectacular stay at the Hotel Mayfair, and cannot recommend it enough. The hotel is conveniently located just opposite the Jardin Tuileries in the 1st Arrondissement, and the views from the hotel are accordingly dreamy. The area is very safe, which was important to me since I was travelling alone, and the hotel is in easy walking distance of the museo d’orsay and museo d’orangerie. It’s also a straight, scenic walk down the Seine if you want to get to Notre Dame (that is to say, it’s a good central point if you’re not the best with directions!). The hotel itself is beautiful, imbued with traditional Parisian charm. I love the 18th century paintings in the reception, and the carefully chosen furniture. Downstairs, there is also a bar, which has a charming 1920s feel to it. My room was airy, clean and spacious, with an espresso machine (ft. complimentary coffee pods which was much appreciated), and the cutest balcony looking out over the park. I didn’t opt for the inclusive breakfast, but I did order breakfast in my room on two of the days. The bread basket was particularly good: fresh, soft and also very generously portioned. I saw some reviews complaining of the surcharge for room service (a three euro fixed fee); however, this is a much lower surcharge than other hotels and doesn’t feel unreasonable, especially since it is so well presented. The staff were kind and friendly, especially at reception, and I felt well-cared for the whole way through my stay. They helped me book a taxi from the station, and lent me things I had forgotten. I cannot recommend the Hotel Mayfair enough if you are looking for a luxurious stay in Paris. Especially at this price, you would struggle to find another hotel this good in Paris.
