Best Hotels near WWII Bunker Under Gare de l＇Est, Paris

First things first, there effectively is no Lennon Hotel. There is no reception there and no breakfast room. Everything from the administration on is done through the Avalon Hotel next door so, make the assumption that you are going to the Avalon and you will not get lost or confused. The decor is both dated and modern at the same time. I would say, typically French so I am glad they didn't go all chain hotel and boring. The Bedroom - The choice of furniture I would question. In some pictures you can see what looks like a coat rack. This is the 'wardrobe' in the room. There are 6 hooks which may or may not have 6 hangers. Beneath that could well be a full size laptop safe (free to use) and under that, what I would have used as the shoe shelf. There really isn't anywhere for smaller items at all, they likely will stay in your luggage. With the lighting it's either bright or very bright so, there wasn't really an option to have it dimly lit though there are a selection of ceiling light, wall lamps and table lamps, they are all bright. Our room (100) was not a king size bed, I feel 4' 6” as it was certainly smaller than we are used to. In many pictures it shows the white bed pillows supplemented by small blue (green) ones. This is certainly not the case with every room. The Bathroom - I can but speak for our room as I understand other rooms have different configurations. We had a walk in shower with a rain shower head and a hand held spray adjusted using ornate handles. The toilet was on the wall. I personally don't like those, I feel incredibly unsafe especially when they creak like this one did when sat on. To make it worse, we're only 5' 3” and it's just too high, we felt like 5 year olds in need of a step stall. I wondered if this might not be aimed at wheelchair users as I am disabled but I do not use a chair but a mobility scooter (which there was plenty of room for). Then I consider the sink which is high up, too high for a wheelchair user. Of course, there is no chair in the shower either so, if it is meant to be an accessible room, it kind of isn't. The walls are done in tiles. Very mismatched tiles, not sure whether that was intentional or just years of different repairs and replacements. I feel that the light blue small square tiles were original but that when the shower, toilet and sink were last done they were not replicable so got replaced with blue rectangle tiles. The floor tiles are probably original but very worn and though they may have been, I never felt they were clean. Being a walk in shower the water got everywhere and the floor remained wet all night so we kept a towel on the floor by the door. Us British might find it weird to see a hairdryer in the bathroom right next to the sink, I think a plug socket too! The location is nice and close to the metro station, the staff are friendly and great services. The best part is that I made friends who had similar interests and wanted to explore Paris like I did. Would highly recommend for solo travelers the area is safe and convenient to anywhere you want to see within Paris🩷

I am surprised by the bad comments ... when I stayed in this hotel, everything went very well: staff is professional and very sympathetic. The room is convenient and the bedroom is comfortable The breakfast is also very good !

We enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn. It’s just opposite to the station and was very convenient for us to catch our train early morning. It’s also close to the Metro and getting to all the attractions was a breeze.

We asked for a quiet room, and received a reply saying that our request would be taken into consideration. I am still getting copies of that message every few days a week later, it is clearly auto generated and not true. The air con was not working. They knew this as we checked in but did not tell us. After wasting time trying to fix it we spoke about it and asked to change rooms. We were facing a. Night of either it being hot and stuffy, or following their brilliant advice and leaving the windows open to the noise and police sirens of the street. It was not a good nights sleep, and tha is all I demand of a hotel. We will not be going back. Ok, but it could be better

The room size isnt as generous as you would expect for a 1 bedroom suite but it did fit family of 4. The AC wasn't really working and the washing machine was faulty. Reported it to the concierge but still not fixed the next day. Luckily there is a self-help laundramat about 300 meters from the hotel. The location is great and central and with easy access to scooters and bikes which I reckon is the best way to get around Paris.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very centrally located, just a stones throw away from the Metro. We enjoyed an amazing view too. The pictures don't do the hotel justice. My only gripe is that instead of supplying proper shower gel/bodywash they just give tidy 10ml packets. We were 2 people staying for 2 nights and this just simply wasn't enough. Housekeeping did not replenish them.

My wife Sandra and I stayed here three nights. The staff were very pleasant and the room was nice. We were on the sixth floor but there was still a certain amount of ”Saturday night” street noise that still managed to find it's way up. There was also a very annoying creaking sound coming from the floor boards overhead which at times also contributed to the noise level. Breakfast was nice and there was a good selection ranging from fresh fruit to scrambled eggs and sausages. The croissants and jams were particularly good. Overall, it is a very pleasant small hotel which is a three minute walk to the Gare de L'Est station. It is also located in an area close to some nice restaurants.

An amazing hotel with lovely staff! The room was very good; everything I needed was there; from soaps to hair dryer, from coffee and tea to a roof terrace (as I requested a smoking room). Cleaned properly every day and breakfast was great. I don’t get why some people complain about the neighborhood. When you stay in the area of Gare du Nord, you should already know the neighborhood isn’t great. This is in almost every capital close to “central station”. You won’t have any problems though! The hotel is located in a quiet street, and if you turn right the neighborhood gets better. I’m a woman traveling alone and walked around late at night too and had no issues with people whatsoever! If anything, the people were lovely. My French isn’t good and people really tried to understand me, or tried to speak English for me, some random person behind me in line even helped me with translation. A lovely man in the street even wished me bon voyage when he saw me with my suitcase. It’s also a convenient location; I don’t like traveling through Gare du Nord, but walk two streets the other was and there’s Gare du l’Est (much quieter). Anyway, back to the hotel: the staff was amazing, so friendly and accommodating! The bed, pillows and sheets felt like heaven and I’ve never slept so good in my life! There’s a hair dryer in the bathroom that was very good and the shower was amazing. I also loved that I could make my coffee in the morning in my room. The hotel is quiet, and not many tourists; mainly business people or French people visiting the city. I felt safe and welcome and I will definitely book this hotel again when I return. Then I will also make use of the spa as I didn’t get to this time.

Location is really amazing Staff was nice to us However the room really is very small and the window is next to air-condition/ventilation machine that kept making a banging sound all making it hard to sleep. Receptionist told us can't do anything as they are full now and can't offer a different room (I have read many reviews where people had the same experience, so if it was true or not that the hotel was full we'll never know) Not so sure about cleanliness either as I saw mud on the floor and bathroom didn't look very clean.
