Montage Deer Valley

Montage is still on my bucket list, we will return based on our experience this trip. So glad our company McKesson Corporation allowed for this experience first time around. Next time it'll be on my dime and I know there's no risk of a less than excellent experience.

Let me start by saying that I RARELY write reviews, however, in this instance it is definitely warranted. For more than 20 years, we generally stay in 5 star hotels when we travel. This experience comes with a level of expectation. From the minute we checked in, Montage clearly failed to meet 5 star expectations. Three days prior to our arrival, I received an email from the Montage detailing our 3 night stay, including a complimentary upgrade of room from a King to a King suite with fire pit. Upon arrival, we were given a handicapped accessible junior suite and told to be happy with this upgrade. I specifically asked and confirmed that the room had a standard shower set up and NOT grab rails and hand held shower head. I was then told that there was no other room available in the hotel even if we wanted the standard King that we booked! When arriving at the room, we discovered a tub with 6 grab bars and a hand held shower head! The rod for the shower head was too short for my husband to stand under! Shower pressure was non existent! Upon arrival to check out, the following was reported: 1. a/c was not functioning properly on night 1. When I called to address, there were no apologies. Simply told that it would be reported. 2. Light bulb did not work in shower 3. Toilet ran for over 2 days and nights! The second time that engineering showed up, they finally replaced the necessary part after explaining that we called twice over two days to report. 4. No sports channels worked on the TV. We were told that the hotel was in contract negotiations with the cable company 5. No honor bar, coffee pot or snack in room. Very plain and worn. Room was tired and need refresh! Towels were thin and felt old. We have stayed in this hotel several times over the years. So sad to see how much it has declined.

Overall, the property was beautiful, with excellent dining. There were a few issues that occurred, which I wouldn't expect from a property like this. All lights turned on in the room at 3am. Cleanliness and smell of sewer in the hallway leading to our room. Spa was wonderful but encountered some difficulty and delay in checking in for an appointment.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing setting. Bell staff and housekeeping are top notch. The food is excellent and the spa is world class. But, the service needs improvement. We had a leaky gas fireplace in our room. It took them two days to fix and it could have killed us. The staff was not overly concerned and even assured us it was fixed (when it wasn't), which led us to getting sick for the second night in a row as we blindly followed their word it was safe. Thankfully we are ok but the hotel never apologized, followed up with us or did anything to compensate us. Very disappointing

Beautiful hotel, incredible location and well appointed rooms, very professional staff attending to our every need. The biggest issue for us in Park City hotels had been quietness in the rooms/suits. We tried Montage for the first time on this trip through Amex fine hotel and resort program, and very glad that the rooms are very well laid out with adequate sound proofing. Exceeded our expectation for a very tranquil stay!

1st class service, friendly staff including registration, valet, bell, pool staff, spa, room quality, live entertainment in the lounge / bar area, hiking on or near property, and concierge. Montage is top notch.

I was at the Montage Deer Valley just overnight for work so I didn’t fully get to explore the resort. The suite I stayed in was spacious with a small deck pleasant view of greenery. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well appointed with anything a guest would need. It seemed a mix of corporate guests [an insurance convention I believe] and famiies vacationing in the mountains.

We booked a Vista View room. The vista was quite literally 1/3 obstructed by the roof that jettisoned out into our balcony. Front desk told me that’s what they mean by Vista. I can’t get over that level of deceit to give this hotel any better rating than 1 star. Food was mediocre in general. From overcooked bacon and waffles to sharp bones in the pulled chicken. The stand out was the nachos. It was excellent. The transportation and gym staff are quite nice and probably the highlight kindest of the staff. The hotel has a great location but if that’s all it takes to simply be a good hotel then go for it. You’ll love it. If you expect more than you won’t find it here.

Wonderful staff, service, view, amenities, food and room. A higher end resort but worth it. I was always greeted with a "hello" and a smile and in most cases by my name.
