The hotel is beautiful and could be better taken care of. Starting to look tired. Food and drink prices are high compared to the value of the item. Staff can run from very nice to not so nice. Sounds that the owner is not respectful of the staff and they have a high turnover rate.

Felt like I was reliving.some of the history of this iconic hotel. Upscale dining in the hotel restaurant. Lots of historical photos and artifacts to look at in the lobby and library room.. Amazing ceilings etc. Lux robes in the closet. Can host large wedding parties in the ballrooms etc.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The restaurant and bar are very nice. The history of the hotel is interesting.

I won't be staying here again. Dust was noticed around the bed's head board, not good. Sheers were torn in one window, very tacky. Bathroom was clean but cramped. By that I mean, the door to the bathroom barely missed hitting the toilet when entering. Lighting was poor because I requested a fridge but you had to unplug a table lamp in order to plug in the fridge. We decided not to eat there after reading and seeing pictures from other reviews. I looked at the menu and the prices were expensive for what appears to be Sysco type food. Staff was friendly. They brought up extra towels, ice and the fridge to our room in a timely manner. Coffee machine in room wasn't clean, so we didn't use it. Would have been nice if they offered a cup of coffee or tea in the morning but no hospitality whatsoever. Room cost $178.00 for one night. Never again.

Great people! The bartender, front desk, cleaning, and food servers were very friendly and helpful. I think it's awesome that you help the animal shelter. We sure hope Allie finds a home soon! We sure did try to help! We slept very well and enjoyed our stay for the CCAWV state board meeting :)

What a beautiful hotel. The people who run the place are spectacular. Our stay was for two nights in a room on the third floor. We were there to experience ghostly happenings and it did not disappoint! When we stepped out of the elevator we immediately smelled cigar smoke and it did not linger. This residual was from one who may have enjoyed a cigar in the Gentleman's club back in the day. There was too much more going on to post here. We will be back.

We enjoyed the historical ambience and the beautiful holiday decor. The in-house reataurant and bar had a great menu.. Free valet service and a knowledgeable concierge were appreciated. All in all our stay was enjoyable compared to common hotel chains. It was an experience not just a place to sleep.

Our first room had a toilet clog, so we were moved to another room. That room also had issues with the toilet where it consistently leaked onto the floor and we had to put a water bottle underneath the tank to catch the water so it wouldn’t soak the floor like it was when we moved to that room.
