Great location for the south-west coast path. Room comfortable but the quality of the service, food and drink was outstanding. Breakfast menu and dinner in particular had a broad range of locally sourced foods that were cooked and prepared beyond our expectation. Wine and beer choices were equally as impressive. We've travelled quite a bit in North Devon and this is a gem of a place.

Delightful stay from the moment we checked in Clean quiet rooms A good selection of beers and a great evening meal which was excellent value. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice The staff were friendly very efficient and polite Thankyou all for a very enjoyable stay

We stayed one night having spent the day walking along the local beaches and then the next day at RHS Rosemoor. This is one of the best places we have stayed on our travels. It’s an old, thatched cottage style pub resplendent with lots of original features. Walking in from the car park we were enamoured by the wisteria hung entranceway with outdoor tables and chairs. Our room was spacious with a great sized bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. I must admit if you sleep with the window open you may suffer from some road noise. We ate in the restaurant on the night of our stay. I chose the mussels for starters with hake risotto as mains whilst hubby had the burger for mains and lemon meringue possett for dessert. Serving staff were friendly and helpful, it has a lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Breakfast was served in the restaurant the following morning. Plenty of decent tasting coffee and a full English each went down a treat. Again really good food.

We were in North Devon for a few days in order to visit RHS Rosemoor . Hoops in is situated between Clovelly and Bideford , so an ideal location. We couldn’t really fault Hoops, the staff were lovely, the room was clean and comfortable and the food ( both dinner & breakfast) was excellent. It was the first time ever that we were served freshly cooked food on very hot plates which was brilliant ….as I like my food hot! For a two night stay , reasonable charges , I would say that it would be hard to be beaten .

What a fantastic, characterful and charming place. The entrance to the car park being is a bit hair-raising until you get used to it but it's ok if you aren't stressed and tired like I was after a long drive. The room was spotless and has everything you need. The shower was second to none. I really struggled to drag myself out of it. I highly recommend eating in the restaurant. The food is amazing. On the first night we had fillet steak which was served with fancy, schmancy mushrooms and spinach which was as nice as the steak. Second night I had hake and crayfish risotto and hubby had a burger. The portions are enormous so make sure you're hungry. Every one of the staff we encountered was smiling, happy and helpful. It's well placed for Closely, Bideford and Westward Ho! We will absolutely be staying here when we are next in north Devon.

Outstanding ! The staff are brilliant and made us more than welcome, 8 of us had a 2 night stay and we have no complaints whatsoever, fantastic food (hake on a bed of risotto) Wow, Good selection of beer's and wine's with Jail Ale being my favourite. Would we ever return for another weekend with our friends ? Well a simple Yes is the answer.
