Mountain Rose Hotel & Restaurant

In beautiful and picturesque Pedoulas village, the hotel offers a good stay, with big and very clean and spacious rooms, good traditional breakfast and friendly owners. It really worth the visit for a few days getaway from the busy towns.

The staff were friendly. The room was small and very dated. No coffee making facilities or hairdryer. The shower was so small that my 6ft husband could not get in it and it took 15minutes to get even tepid water. The TV did not work, neither of the bedside lights and only one of the overhead bulbs worked. However, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was mediocre, a mixture of bacon, egg, cooked meats and cheese, with salad and olives, neither one thing or the other. The village of Pedoulas was exceptionally quiet, with nothing to do. We checked out after only one night. We would not recommend. A man staying at the hotel, who obviously had some personal issues was taking photos of our car. 2 hours later we got a phone call from the police in Pedoulas, saying we should report to the nearest police station, as the man had accused us of being suspicious. This was a very frightening experience and not one we would like to repeat. We Are pensioners.

Room had smoke coming in from hotel restaurant barbecue which is at street level and seems to be lit from morning till night - the barbacue doesn't seem to have a proper chimney so the smoke just comes into the rooms above - you can stop it only by closing doors and windows - but that is not an option in the hot Cyprus summer. Rooms were generally hot. Bunk bed in family room had no safety bar on side of top bunk making it unsafe for a child. Generally the hotel is tired and poorly maintained (none of the side lights worked in our room; most of the lights in the corridor didn't work). The location is very good, you can see that this hotel was once likely the pride of the village, but it is in desperate need of modernisation and repair. The staff varied from indifferent to rude. Breakfast was below average. We had to wait for over an hour for our room to be made ready- well after the time we were told that the room would be ready. We were booked for two days. I could not have stayed a third in this place.

No respect for their guest, Right below the hotel they have a barbecue in the day, afternoon until night, then in the early hours of the morning they light it again sending meaty oily smoke spiraling into the rooms and corridors making it near impossible to stay in, our clothes reeked of smoke, In the other room, the locks were not working and we could not get in, in the middle of the night and there was no reception to let us in.# lights did not stay on in the corridor with wire hanging from the walls, wifi practically non-existent, and kept dropping off after just one minute.

The hotel is in a nice mountain village and it is family run. There are many stairs and no lift, don’t go if you have motility problems. My room was very basic and looked like a hostel, a double bed and two bunk beds, obviously not much free space. I travel alone…. The bathroom was small but with a good hot shower. Wifi works mostly in the hall, not so well in the rooms. The food was excellent not at dinner (hummus and a huge portion of home made moussaka) and at breakfast, prepared expressly and brought to your table in a very short time: egg and bacon, cheese and charcuterie, home made jam, olives and tomatoes. The price is very reasonable and the accept cards.

Absolutely appalling. The room smelled of mould, the sewage smelled in the bathroom but the door wouldn’t close. The food took 2 hours to arrive. The room had cobwebs, the sheets had stains on them, the paint is peeling. Breakfast was cheap. Windows were single glazing and wouldn’t close completely.
