Rose, Terry and their temporary manager, Quentin, were great. Also, the room was great, the food was great, the views were great, the weather was great and so for the 2 weeks we spent here we had a great time. This is a place to go when you want a quiet holiday, it's quite a drive to the town and there's nothing nearby except a few other houses and the National Park. But the National Park is probably why you'll go here and the gate is only a couple of hundred yards away. It's a steep walk up to the look out post and the sub station but worth it for the views. We went primarily to do some birdwatching and surprisingly spent most of our time birdwatching around the grounds of the hotel, rather than in the park itself. The hotel grounds are lovely and well kept by Rose and her helpers, so the birds and other wildlife love the area. Breakfast was excellent, as was the food in the evening, the two ladies who ran the kitchen (unfortunately I can't remember their names!) did a great job. They also cleaned and made sure our room looked nice every day. We stayed in The Otters Room, a big room with a massive set of floor to ceiling windows along one wall giving a wonderful view over Kota Kinabalu and over the grounds themselves. We took many photos of the birds and the sunsets from the room. A great place... Thank you Rose and Terry.
