Roundthorn Country House & Luxury Apartments

This is a really good quality hotel, excellent staff. We were given a free upgrade to an Apartment. Excellent breakfast.

We have just returned home after 2 night stay in the 2 bedroom self catering apartment at Round thorn Country House. From booking the apartment, to checking out after our stay, the whole experience was straightforward and all the staff extremely helpful and lovely. The apartment was spotless, warm , comfortable and our only problem was that we couldn't stay longer. We had one breakfast and one dinner in the hotel and the food was really well cooked and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Round thorn sits high above Penrith with lovely views all round. Complete silence all night. Would recommend to anyone.

Just enjoyed a very delicious pan Asian supper here tonight. The duck starter was divine and good easily have been a main course. I had sweet and sour chicken to follow and my friend had the salmon. Beautifully presented and served by very attentive waitress. Highly recommend and great value.

Gorgeous location, even better staff, rooms and service. The food served is absolutely fantastic! Very clean and just a lovely place to stay. We were made to feel really welcome, like they'd known us years [it was our first visit, we will be back] and we couldn't name any improvement that could be made. A+++. Thank you :)

Food and service were excellent. Comfortable room, but stairs very narrow. Headroom an issue because of low ceilings in places. Very windy the evening we were there and it felt we were in a “wind tunnel”. Not a problem for us, as we were v. tired. Would definitely stay again.

We came for a family get together Christmas lunch and all of us (13) were so pleased we did. If you’re looking for good food, good service and a lovely atmosphere, Roundthorn is the perfect place to visit. The food is faultless and not over expensive. A definite visit if you’re in the area and want good, quality food. You won’t be disappointed. We will definitely return with our family for Christmas next year. 10/10

The apartment was lovely and clean. The hotel was closed whilst we were there but lots of local amenities. The apartment was well placed for the local walks.

Food exceptional ,staff went above and beyond to make sure birthday celebrations went well even though family were very late ,due to accident on motorway. Can’t thank them enough.
