Service: The staff and services are excellent, the management is professional and kind. The owner and his family have run the hotel for over 100 years. They are friendly and can even adjust reservations at the last minute.

Central in Perouges and very nice experience staying in a medieval village and hotel. Service is great and restaurant is very good, although a bit expensive. Owner even accepted to change reservation last minute - higgly recommended for a time travel to another age!

Booked this because it is a storybook-looking hotel and it lived up to the biling. We were in a separate midieval building than the restaurant, about 75 meters away from the square which was fine. Our room was huge, ancient and creaky, but comfortable and fun with a spectacular view over the countryside through paned windows with inside wooden shutters to block the morning light. The meal at the restaurant was REALLY good too. Highly recommend eating there.

I stayed here one night with my wife in April 2024. Even though I was aware that the bedrooms are located in a medieval building, it still came as a surprise that the heating in the bedroom was totally inadequate. The huge iron radiators were permanently on, albeit they were "tepid" on the inflow and very "cold" on the outflow, with any heat being lost into a very draughty room which did not get warm at all. My request at reception fell on deaf ears as nothing was done to remedy the problem. It was 5 deg C outside and not a lot warmer inside. It would have been better to put them on full blast for a couple of hours in the morning and the same in the evening but low temp all day just wastes money 'for everybody'. Particularly when you are paying 187 euros for room only., no breakfast. This type of period environment is fine when its 20 deg C outside but not when it's winter conditions. We left 'very early' the next morning without breakfast and enjoyed the warmth of the car...The cracks and mould in the bathroom was reminiscent of a 2 star hotel not one that charges the prices as shown above. See attached picture. Dinner in the restaurant was fine and enjoyable.

Fantastic location and a wonderful hotel. The room we stayed in was lovely, comfortable bed and a first class bathroom The private parking was welcome and easily accessible. But..... On arrival we were not informed about the availability of WiFi and there was no mention of it in the sketchy info pack in the room. The main hotel building was only open for breakfast, so without a courtesy tray in the room we couldn't even get a glass of water. Breakfast was terrible value for money. Apart from it being very quiet overnight which afforded a good night's sleep I would not bother staying there again. Overall, terrible value for money. And it's not cheap.

Amazing location, amazing food and super friendly staff, we had the most magnificent room, everything about this place is just so special. Fastidiously overseen by the kind and friendly owner who’s family has run it for over 100 years, cannot recommend visiting, eating and staying

We stayed for 5 nights in May and based ourselves here for visiting the area on our way down driving to Itay The car park is private and locked at night which was important to us as the car was full of items for Italy. We stayed in the Maison des Saisons which is an annexe to the main hotel some 50 yards away and very quiet. Even the ancient church bell stops at 22.00. The staff and services were excellent and the management very professional and kind. The weather was very hot for mid-May but the thick walls of the house maintained a coolness. What we did find refreshing was that they don't use duvets or pillows made of "glass fiber" filling. They provided feather pillows, cool linen sheets and blankets if required. As you travel further south in France the tea and coffee making facilities become rarer. We asked for a kettle in the room and they were happy to provide this with nice china cups. The main square in front of the hotel is the centre of Perouges and the hotel has a refreshment area with tables and chairs under a cool pillared roof. It is pleasant to walk around the village alleys and lanes at night when all the tourists have gone. The local delicacy is the Galette like a flan with pastry base and caramellised sugar. Everyone has a piece in their hand as they walk the town, We ate in the hotel restaurant on the last evening. The food was very good and the service excellent, although the price seemed on the high side for what we had. There was plenty of choice on the menu and a good selection of local wines. The local town Meximieux is very close and has good bars and restaurant with a large supermarket. There is also a good train connection to Lyon. The village has little to entertain the visitor apart from Restaurants which seem to have variable opening hours and you need to check when they are open.

Bravi tutti.
