It's clear a fair amount of time had been spent doing up the inside of the lodge we stayed in (work appears to be ongoing in others) so the appearance inside, the kitchen units, sink etc were very nice. However... on arrival for a 2 night stay we followed signs to our Lodge number to find no parking at all; a house resident came out to point out the only space we found belonged to a private home and advised we go to the next road along where there was ample room for the car. Pre-arrival instructions would have saved the stress and I believe the homeowners would be very grateful. The steps and decking were so caked in rotting vegetation and bird poop that we couldn't get inside without tracking some of it in; the doormat was also filthy so wiping feet was a waste of time. Couldn't put a case or bag down in order to open the door it was so bad. The outside of the windows and doors were also filthy which spoiled any view. It wasn't a day or two's worth of grubby either, it was old and built up. A hose and a stiff brush would have made a huge improvement. No outside brush available or I'd have done something about it to make our coming and going a bit easier. A nice big deck but no outside seating or table. The hot tub I'm sure would have been pleasant but the back yard wasn't. Suffering the same as the front decking, with the addition of treacherous green slimy steps down to it, there was zero appeal here and it looked more of a home for dustbins, not the hot tub crammed in the corner. A lovely new kitchen spoiled by stained crockery, cracked glasses and a frying pan scratched so much it was shedding non-stick coating onto the food, and so bent that it genuinely wouldn't cook the food as not enough of it was in contact with the hob. Beautiful sink, lethal hot tap, temperature scalding; same problem with hot water in the bathroom - do NOT attempt to wash hands under the hot tap. Washing up liquid provided which was appreciated. Shower was decent, although the doors didn't quite meet in the middle. Plenty powerful enough. Nice big towels. WELCOME BOOK - the clue is generally in the name. It should welcome you to your holiday. Maybe include some useful information on how to work the heating, cooker, TV, which switch works the outside light, where the nearest amenities are, that sort of thing. This one simply stated 4 or 5 reasons for "instant eviction, no refund" and warned of a £20 out-of-hours charge if you called for anything other than an emergency, also clarifying that 'the hot tub is NOT an emergency!' My opinion is rather that if I pay for a property that advertises certain features and amenities I'd expect to be able to enjoy them and should be free to contact for assistance if required. You should get what you are paying for? The TV didn't work. Given that check-in was 4pm (and reception was closed), we'd wasted 30 minutes trying to park and another 20 negotiating bird poop trying to get our things inside, by the time we discovered th
