Phi Phi the Beach Resort

The environment is absolutely beautiful, and it's definitely a value-for-money choice. The hotel's à la carte dinner in the restaurant was also quite good. However, it's important to note that the hotel shuttle service is only free for check-in and check-out. Taxi boats are readily available everywhere, costing 100 THB during the day and 150 THB at night.

Facing the smaller Phi Phi Leh island, and close to Shark Point, it's located on the first and second best beaches of Koh Phi Phi Don. Many reviews mentioned discrimination against Chinese guests, but I didn't experience that at all. In fact, I found the service excellent, especially compared to The Naka Phuket. The staff were very warm, proactive, and provided great service. However, it's the usual Phi Phi problem: the water quality isn't great. You'll need to buy bottled water, which can be a hassle to carry to the hotel given its somewhat remote location. Getting on and off the longtail boats is also quite inconvenient for kids, so keep that in mind before booking. I opted for the most expensive view room, but after comparing, I think the next category down would offer better value for money. Having to climb an extra flight of stairs every day was a bit of a nuisance. Breakfast was just okay, but sufficient. I'll add a panoramic photo of the bay later – it's truly beautiful.

When you arrive at Tonsai, hotel staff will be there to pick you up for check-in. The boat transfer from the hotel to the pier is free for both check-in and check-out. The hotel breakfast is also great, they even have pasta! We booked a front-row room and could see the sea view! The room wasn't damp at all, and the wooden decor was much better than I expected! The coastline in front of the hotel is also beautiful, perfect for just relaxing. There are even little cats at the hotel. The environment is really lovely.

The Beach Resort Hotel is an older property with somewhat outdated decor. You'll often spot lizards, and there are even monkeys on the roof. However, as a holiday destination, it offers excellent value for money, especially being able to take a longtail boat out for snorkeling.

The room was quite small, and the two twin beds were also on the smaller side. The shower had good, consistent water pressure. The hotel food was pretty average, though my kid seemed to enjoy it. When the sun was out, the waves right in front of the hotel were very gentle, perfect for kids to play in. You can charter a longtail boat right next door for 2000 THB for a 3-hour trip. Our boatman actually took us out for three and a half hours, which was a nice bonus. It saved us the hassle and extra cost of going to the pier to find a boat. The environment was lovely.

Phi Phi Island is stunning, beyond words. The hotel boasts a beautiful view. However, I was extremely dissatisfied with the front desk staff's attitude! There was this one skinny Thai girl who had a terrible demeanor. On top of that, one of our rooms experienced power outages repeatedly, 3-4 times. She refused to move us to another room until it had happened 7 or 8 times, and only then did she agree to switch rooms after our strong insistence. And that night, there was a huge downpour; I can't imagine what we would have done if the power had gone out again. Whenever we asked her for bath towels or had any other questions, her attitude was consistently poor! She clearly had a sour face the whole time! On the other hand, the restaurant staff was excellent and very friendly. They even told us where we could go snorkeling, so welcoming! The overall cost was moderate; we had lunch and dinner at the hotel and tried most of the dishes. I wouldn't recommend the burger, but everything else was good! The front desk staff truly made our experience very unpleasant. Additionally, the bedsheets in the room were quite dirty, which made me feel even worse. Thankfully, Phi Phi Island is beautiful; otherwise, I would have truly regretted staying at this hotel. I hope they improve the attitude of their front desk staff! And they should promptly help guests solve problems! And stop with the sour faces! If it weren't for the great restaurant staff, I would honestly give this hotel's front desk service zero stars.
