The Mesastila is a timeless Resort. Pretty authentic pavilions are scattered throughout a magnificent park. Tea time served in the gardens or on the terrace of a superb colonial house is a magical moment not to be missed. However, some downsides should be noted. The cleanliness of our room and the bathroom left something to be desired (mouse droppings on the edge of the bathtub which remained in the same place throughout our stay, stains on the bathroom walls which were there when we arrived and not cleaned, dust on the baseboards, stains on the sheets, etc.). A 5-star pedicure completely botched and redone with apologies the next day. We left on our excursion at 6 a.m. without having time to eat our breakfast, which was served until 10 a.m. The hotel driver brought us back at 10:20 a.m., breakfast service finished but possible to be served if paying (our breakfast was already paid for with our room). We waited 2.5 hours for a car to take us from the hotel to Jogjakarta. We had not booked it the day before and Friday is a day of prayer, so difficult to find a driver. In conclusion, we had a lovely stay in this magnificent place but some adjustments need to be made so that this Resort can claim the advertised standard.
