Rongyao Homestay (Pingyao Ancient City)

It was a bit difficult to find, please note entrance is not where Amap tells you to go, but in the perpendicular road. In the description it stated the towel was included, I am not sure how normal it is, but it was my first time in China coming across a disposable towel which looked more like a giant drysheet.. even in some hostels I had a proper towel. I was offered an extra one but it still puzzled me.. The place is not good if you need to rest. The whole place has a lot of echo from the start. At 4am I was woken up by noises of things being moved around, some voices but not very loud. That seemed to stop around 20 mins later.. I managed to fall asleep but at 4:50am I was woken up again by a number of noises and voices, this time LOUD. I looked outside the window looking into the internal communal room and there were 15/20 people having breakfast/getting ready by the room, some walking around, everyone talking loudly, even right next to my room. Plus various noises. I messaged the owner without response then had Trip.com's prompt help from customer service, the people were told to talk quieter, which I think they did but was still hearable.. then this group soon left, maybe around 5:30am. It was difficult to go back to sleep and I was so tired in the morning, I missed my alarm and so my train. In the morning the owner was very apologetic and tried to make mend, he seemed a nice person, but still I need to be truthful with my review. Maybe for chinese people this is not an issue. The room and bed sheets were clean, location was 10 minutes walk to the historic town. I was also helped to take my bag upstairs, which was nice of them.. not many people did in previous accomodation

The homestay is very close to the main attractions.. just walking distance.. very clean and helpful people.. highly recommended

Just a little bit outside of the Ancien City. Very simple but okay for one night or two
