Great location! It's about a 10-minute walk from the taxi stand outside Xiaonan Gate to the guesthouse. I heard it's a 200-year-old building, formerly the residence of a powerful bank owner (Piaohao Dazhanggui). The guesthouse itself is a sight to behold, with unique charm both day and night. If you're visiting Pingyao, you absolutely must experience staying in an ancient building like this, though thankfully the bathrooms are modern. The owner and front desk staff were all very nice.

The most delightful surprise of my trip to Pingyao was undoubtedly this guesthouse in the ancient city! Stepping into the Ming and Qing dynasty courtyard was breathtaking. The carved wooden windows, hanging red lanterns, and the antique Shanxi-style architecture exuded a timeless charm, as if I had stepped back in time to the mansions of Shanxi merchants a century ago. The rooms preserved the texture of the old building while being equipped with comfortable bedding and modern amenities. The earthen bed was soft and comfortable, and the quiet nights ensured a restful sleep. The owner and staff were incredibly attentive, picking me up at the ancient city gate in advance, drawing a hand-drawn itinerary, and recommending authentic local delicacies. They were always responsive to my needs, showing warmth in every detail. They even gave me Shanxi specialties upon check-out. The location is quiet yet convenient, within walking distance of the main attractions, allowing me to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the ancient city while enjoying the tranquility of the courtyard. It's incredibly cost-effective, and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Pingyao. I highly recommend it to every traveler!

Pingyao Wudedi: Step into a 200-year-old Shanxi merchant courtyard and embark on a journey through time! Choosing Wudedi Inn was the best decision I made in Pingyao! This century-old house hidden in the ancient city is stunning. Originally the private residence of a late Qing Dynasty bank manager, its five courtyards unfold layer by layer. The blue bricks and gray tiles, wood carvings and brickwork exude the grandeur of Shanxi merchants; opening the door is like stepping into the depths of time. The location is absolutely perfect: a 3-minute walk to the county government office, a 5-minute walk to Ming and Qing Dynasty Street, and incredibly close to the ancient city parking lot and city wall entrance, eliminating any detours. I chose a traditional earthen kang room with elegant wooden furniture and soft bedding. The toiletries had a refreshing white tea scent, and even modern amenities like a smart toilet and 24-hour hot water were included, making this an incredibly comfortable stay in an old house.

I travel extensively for business and sightseeing, and I have a soft spot for scenic spots, historical sites, and cultural ancient cities. This time, I happened to pass by Pingyao Ancient City, which has a high-speed rail station, making it very convenient. There are many places to eat in the ancient city, but it's not as lively as the Dongmen Snack Street. I bought a vinegar-flavored Coke, which was a first-time try and was quite good. While strolling leisurely, I came across this hotel. It was a large, deep courtyard. I think it must have belonged to a wealthy landlord in ancient times. The three-story courtyard made me want to experience it. The courtyard is perfect for taking photos, and the rooms are antique, giving me a traditional cultural experience that's completely different from a modern hotel. But the only drawback is that the bedside can't be charged, forcing you to put your phone down before going to bed.

This B&B was beyond amazing! The courtyard was large and clean, the rooms were spacious, bright, and tidy, and the toiletries were all genuine, brand-name, and packaged in large containers. The rooftop offers a view, and the courtyard is perfect for a relaxing break with tea. The owner was also very welcoming and attentive, even giving us some local vinegar before we left!
