This is the standard comment from Guest Relations. They never address any of the concerns mentioned. Then hope you chose Lopesan Hotels in the future ..... 'First of all, thank you very much for choosing our hotel Abora Catarina for your recent holidays in the south of the island. We apologise the inconvenience you have experienced above mencioned, and we regret we could not meet your expectations during your stay. We hope you still choose any of the Lopesan Hotels in a future holiday. Sunny regards, Guest Relations My review: We have stayed here many times but unfortunately we think it'll be our last. First the good bits: All the staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The food in our opinion is mostly good with lots of choice. The solarium terrace has been 're-grassed' and the furniture updated (although some of the parasols are already falling apart). The position of the hotel is excellent. Now the bad bits... The main reason for not returning is the amount of children. Mealtimes are bedlam. I counted approximately 68 at breakfast, mostly under school age, screeching, banging tablets, shouting running around etc. Either that or they were on their tablets which was audible to those around. You cannot have a relaxing meal Yes some of that is down to the parents but due to the layout of the hotel there is nowhere to escape them either during the day or especially in the evening. The lounge area is part of the reception and main walkway to part of the hotel. Also it looks over the stage for the evening entertainment. You can set the temperature of the shower to how you want it but then, suddenly, it goes to freezing, or more importantly to scalding which I think is actually dangerous, before going back to the required temperature. We have never known the hotel to have that number of children so presumably that is the market they are now after. However as a couple it is no longer relaxing either at mealtimes or in the evening and we will be looking elsewhere.
