The resort is clean, and the facility grounds are well-maintained. The place is huge, and you often have to depend on a shuttle to get around. BE WARNED: The shuttle stops running after 10:00 PM. If you take a day excursion, you might not return before the shuttle service ends. You may end up walking all over the property in the dark just looking for your room. When their workday ends, it ends. My only other remark is that the air conditioning in our room never did work. Lucky for us, we had a fan that did work. Several of the other patrons also said they had trouble with their air conditioning. NOTE: This resort offers many excursions through the Swiss Travel Company. Every single excursion is a great one. I took four excursions. and they were all excellent. They also included transportation to remote areas.

We had reserved a villa with a view high up the hill which should have been spectacular. But when we arrived, they instead gave us a villa at the very bottom with no view whatsoever. Worse, there was a horrendously loud pool pump just outside our bedroom window which turned on/off throughout the night waking us up. When we reported these problems to the management, there was no effort to remedy the problems. Instead, we were told that they were 'sorry for the inconvenience'. It wasn't a mere inconvenience. It was not delivering what we had reserved and paid for. This management indifference is sadly the reality at Villas Sol Beach Resort. And there really wasn't a beach either at the resort so the name is misleading. I would recommend finding other lodging accommodations elsewhere.

Desde hace 20 años y venido viendo como ha caído en picada. Te ofrecen snack y solo hamburguesas con un pan durísimo y algo que se parece a pizza. Sopa saladas. Ensaladas remal. Variedad de alimentación fatal hasta nos dimos cuenta que reciclan del día anterior. Mantenimiento fatal las sillas del comedor flojas sentía que cualquier momento al suelo. Limpieza del comedor fatal. Cerraron el segundo restaurante. Abren gym y a los meses lo cierran abren un Market y lo cierran. El precio a socio nada que ver con lo que ofrecen. Sugiero analizar la estadía. En definitiva ha decaído en forma total. Lástima de visión y de una excelencia de have er bien las cosas por los dueños. Al menos me faltan como cuatro años para finalizar mi contrato de socio y prefiero no volver a pagar mantenimiento por algo que no se da. Casas con goteras. Lástima. Pero sé que le da igual a los dueños las quejas ya que si no han hecho nada con las quejas anteriores menos con esta.

I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Villas Sol! Overall my experience was incredible.
The scenery is absolutely breathtaking from the hotel’s balcony’s and from the restaurant and patio. Sunsets over the ocean are stunning!
The food is great at all meals, with plenty of variety and the friendliest staff ever. Gerald, Maritza, Maria!
The shuttle service is prompt and also very friendly. So close to the beach that the shuttle isn’t necessary but it’s actually a fun and breezy ride.
There was unfortunately an issue with the air conditioning on my arrival so I was given a Queen bed instead of the King bed that I reserved, but when I brought this to the attention of the front desk they put me in touch with Kevin, who is in charge of guest relations. Kevin was very helpful and gave me several different options- I ended up happy in the King bed that I had reserved.
I rented a car, and the location of Villas Sol was amazing to access Del Coco, Tamarindo, Rincon de la Vieija, Samara, and Rio Celeste.
Thank you to Villas Sol, I can’t wait to visit again!

You could tell the villa had been “cleaned” but maybe broom swept and tidied at the most. We found hair on the bedding, no shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom, no extra towels/washcloths, dirty countertops…. To have spent over $400 for a one night stay after a canceled flight and all day in an airport, I had hoped for a much more welcoming and clean stay. We arrived less than 5 minutes after their restaurants closed and the front desk did absolutely nothing to help us find food nearby. No recommendations at all- just “our restaurants closed 5 minutes ago, sorry.”
Not to mention, there was a window missing in the bathroom above the shower and I got more mosquito bites in one night than my entire stay in Tamarindo. I don’t recommend this place at all. You’ll find better accommodations at a holiday inn for $150- where we would’ve stayed but they were all full due to several canceled flights that day.

The room was clean when we arrived but not cleaned each day until the night before we left. It was windy most days and windows had no tracks so they banged in the wind. Very firm King bed. Had to pay $2 for coffee in rooms. Septic system just below our room, smelled the entire time we were there. Two small pools always had debris from trees. Pool chairs were quite often broken and twice the back collapsed during use. Not enough servers in the one restaurant and they were more interested in talking to each other than bringing coffee or drinks. Quite often they forget what we asked for. Food was often cold and overcooked. No complementary shuttle back to the airport. They would arrange a ride and we were charged $69 US. Another couple were charged $52.
