The Bungalow

This used to be a favourite spot of mine to call-in and have a drink and sometimes dinner. They have now closed this to all walk-ins. You must have a reservation no matter what time of day or year, even for a coffee during the day. This might work in high season but for the other 10 months out of the year, which is when the locals support all of the local restaurants, it doesn’t. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve walked past this place and it’s absolutely empty with its doors locked closed but all the lights on. What this means is even if I did make a reservation then we would be the only people in there so there will be zero atmosphere with more staff than customers. I pity the people that have made a special journey to stay in this pricy establishment any time not in December-February and find that they are outnumbered by Staff. This is very sad.😔

There is shabby chic and rustic and then there is in need of serious tlc, unfortunately the bungalow falls in to the latter. The laminate flooring was damaged and lifting, the sofa and matching footstall was tired and very worn, the window in the shower looked directly over the walk way giving anyone walking passed an eyeful if they wanted it or not! The staff were friendly and attentive but the accomodation is seriously over priced and let them down miserably. We stayed in the cove - a one bed apartment which was not a separate bedroom, with an adjoining door to next doors apartment, which allowed their TV to be heard in our room, their conversations were completely clear albeit in a different language they may as well have been in bed with us! Over priced and a serious disappointment

Absolutely incredible stay. The views and apartment are stunning. Would recommend for friends, families, and couples. Would definitely also return!

We are very very unhappy that the Bungalow is closed to the Public now-we‘ve been here for years whenever we stayed in Plett. It never was so full that house guests would not have found a space. We always met a lot of local people there-and those are the ones you need when there are no tourists. For us, very stupid decision…

The views from the bar/lounge area, the location within Platt as well as the easy access to the beautiful beach are what make this place great. The room - "Cliffside 2" in our case - was somewhat impractical, breakfast was good. If you get a fair deal (in our case 75€ a night incl. breakfast) staying there is highly recommended, but if you pay premium be aware it will to a large extent be for the location...

Well appointed but overpriced for the value that you receive! The first time I have seen a 4 star hotel without an A/C in the rooms. Food ridiculously priced for the value that you receive and the quality is bad....much better seafood at Ocean Basket and more reasonably priced. Will never return

We visited on a very blustery evening so had to eat inside however we had a lovely evening. The waiters were so friendly and the service was first class. The sushi was the best we had in S.A., it was all so fresh & well presented. We would happily recommend The Bungalow.

Enjoyed being in the Lookout so close to the beach. Fantastic team working in the hotel. Highly recommend
