The online pictures are lovely, and the back garden was in bloom, all beautiful, but they do not show that the front of the hotel is directly on the highway. The staff were friendly and courteous. Be aware that the added destination fees, occupancy tax and taxes add about 25% to your posted room rate, which at $425/night ($525 with fees and taxes) is already unreasonably high for the small size and quality of room, but hey, it’s California, and the price includes a “free” bottle of house wine. The back side of the hotel faces west, so you get the full brunt of the afternoon sun, and there is no air conditioning. In order to keep the room cool, you need to pull the very heavy drapes closed and close off your only view of the garden. The small deck outside the French doors was a nice idea, but there is no privacy from deck to deck, and you are visible and within hearing of adjacent guests, and if you open your back windows and doors for breeze and garden view, you hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms/decks. There is a no noise policy. The parking is very tight so you have to be pretty careful with opening car doors, and there didn’t seem to be quite enough spaces. The room itself was OK, there was no TV, and the hotel WiFi is not the fastest, but then again the entire area is without decent cell coverage. Perhaps that’s a good thing if you like the isolation and beauty of the area and you don’t want to listen to what your neighbor is listening to. The bathroom, right inside the front door, was up two steps from the bedroom area, there should be a nightlight or illumination there to prevent falls. The bathroom itself was so small that you could not put down the bath mat and open the door at the same time. Nice Amenities for shampoo, etc. The shower enclosure in our room was designed in a way that you cannot avoid getting wet while turning on and getting into the shower, or getting in and then turning on the shower. Half glass, half shower curtain, odd set-up, but designed to make the best of a small space. However, the shower spray had great pressure and water was hot. The sink didn’t drain, I had to remove the stopper to get the water to drain just brushing teeth. There was a small amount of black mold in the shower. Interesting glass wall/window in the shower area with a wooden blind on the bedroom side, but if you are thinking of sleeping in while your partner showers, forget it. The restaurant is located in a separate building accessed by walking outdoors through the parking area, hope it’s not raining! Separate review for our truly mediocre meal there albeit conveniently located and the best available locally. An associated convenience store/market on the far side of the restaurant has breakfast burritos, sandwiches, a few pastries, fruit and coffee. Only outdoor tables. All in all, a convenient location, but overpriced and lacking in several ways that mean I would probably consider driving a little further, perhaps to st
