Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The service was always friendly and speedy and the hotel has ample amenities that we used to the fullest extent. Check-in: We booked through AmEx Fine Hotels & Resorts and received 1) early check-in at noon; 2) room upgrade from no view to partial ocean view; 3) and free breakfast daily - $108/day value. We did not need late check-out, although I'm sure we would have received it. Anara Spa: My husband loved his garden massage - the masseuse was fantastic and the ambiance with a waterfall and garden was lovely. I used the day pass and enjoyed the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and waterfall shower. Avoid going during scheduled aqua-robics classes, as it does change the vibe and ruin the peaceful atmosphere. Pool: Absolutely massive. We were worried that it would feel overrun with kids/people during the holiday weekend, but it remained very chill throughout our stay. We were always able to find two loungers in the shade, and we enjoyed the lazy river every day. Rentals: We used the free beach chair and umbrella rentals daily to take to the beaches, including for the beach onsite. We also rented a great set of flippers ($14/each, a bit pricey). Towel rentals were easy and abundantly offered (no return required, just dump in any bin). Food: Tidepools was our best restaurant experience on the island (Beach House was a very close second). Breakfast at Ilima Terrace was always great with a huge variety of options although there was no obvious day-to-day variation. I recommend the pancake bar with chocolate chip and macadamia nut add-ons. We went to Seaview Terrace every evening for the live music, drinks, and fantastic view. The service at Hale Nalu was great but the food was very bland and super expensive. Captains Bar was always great for a drink. We did not try the Sushi spot but it looked awesome. Highly recommend for your visit to Kauai!
