Booked a last minute overnight stay for hubby and myself and had an absolute bargain. Once booked I read reviews which made me panic but thought I'd just go and see for myself, and make the best of whatever we found and just try and enjoy the experience.. I adore old buildings (but dislike dirt) so this was just up my street, as we pulled around the corner and spotted the building I was blown away. We went into the impressive reception to be greeted by a happy welcoming receptionist, our room wasn't quite ready so we got a drink from the bar and sat out in the glorious gardens then went to sit in the grand drawing room which was like something out of Downton Abbey, luxurious furniture, huge fire places magnificent chandlers and a very relaxed atmosphere. When our room was ready we were informed we'd been upgraded, when went up the grand staircase we were let into our room I actually cried, it was ENORMOUS, and simply stunning with views over the gardens I never imagined I'd ever stay anywhere like it. Absolutely spotless, warm and comfortable. We sank into the carpet, had a walk in wardrobe, dressing area, bathroom had Jack and Jill sinks. The shower was over the bath, yes the bath took a long time to fill but water was boiling, shower was perfectly OK, I've had far worse. Towel were white and fluffy. Before our evening meal we went exploring the grounds which were impeccably kept. Our meal in the restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced, not a great deal of variety but something for everyone. Our four poster bed was super king size, it was on the firm side but really comfortable, had the best nights sleep in a long time. Breakfast by the side of a roaring log fire, a super friendly waitress came with the menu, we ordered traditional cooked breskfast with coffee and tea, both came served in pots, freshly filtered coffee was fab. It was help yourself to toast, pastries, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and juices. Our cooked breakfast was huge, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 hash browns, 2 eggs, tomato, mushrooms, black pudding and a ramekin of beans, all excellent quality, boiling hot, fresh and delicious, I couldn't get through all of mine. I seriously can't fault anything about Miskin Manor or the wonderful attentive without being over bearing staff working there. A special shout out to Janet who was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Please don't listen to people who criticise, this is an old building which will have the odd bit of dust and worn carpet, look beyond these things and appreciate what a gem of a place this is, we're already booking a few return trips one at Christmas as I want to see the Christmas decs.
