Alto do Forte

Im afraid to write all this because this place because when we want to go back here, it will get too busy. We travelled with a baby and the hotel provided a high chair and crib which made a huge difference for us. They even upgraded our room. The staff is very responsive and would respond to my queries prior to arriving. They would help me with any questions at the front desk. Bernardo, Joal, and Claudio were excellent help. They had great recommendations for tourist things to do that met the needs of our family. The hotel and apartment were immaculately clean and staff were so friendly and thorough. We enjoyed the continental breakfast everyday. Some people complained in previous reviews its the same items each day but we found there was a new item each day. I also appreciated the consistency because I knew what to eat the next morning. The woman who does the breakfast has a wonderful spread. The fruit, coffee, eggs and everything were fantastic.

best place to stay in ponta delgada. parking is included - the rooms are spacious and newly decorated - super clean and super nice people. good options for breakfast too. close to a lot of great restaurants. you can also relax in the sauna and the jacuzzi after a day of hiking. there’s also an outdoor pool available on site that we havent used due to the weather. you have everything you might need for a longer stay - including a clothes washing machine.

We had a really lovely stay at Alto do Forte and can warmly recommend it. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which set the tone from check-in onwards. Our apartment was spacious, fresh, and impressively quiet – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the island. Breakfast was good with a nice variety. The spa and pool area was a highlight. Alternating between the chilled outdoor pools, sauna, and jacuzzi was a real treat. The gym was decently equipped for keeping up a routine while travelling, though the treadmill was a bit quirky and could use some maintenance. One practical thing often overlooked in reviews: the garage is spacious and easy to drive in and out of – a genuine bonus in Ponta Delgada, where parking can otherwise be a hassle. All in all, a very successful stay. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here with the whole family. Great walkable location but on quiet (steep) street. Clean spacious, friendly and very helpful staff. Lovely and inviting lobby, modern well appointed rooms. Lovely continental style breakfast buffet. Hot tub and sauna were great in a season that was a little too cold for the pool.

Alto do forte The accommodation has ample parking although the entrance to get in and out is intimidating, but once you get used to it, it’s easy to navigate. The parking is safe, secure and you can get the lift straight to the rooms to the garage and vice versa. It isn’t as clear though where the lifts are inside the parking garage so signage could be clear to avoid people hiking back up the steep decline the car came in from. The accommodation is beautiful, very modern and plenty of space to put away your clothes with towels being changed everyday and rooms cleaned everyday. There’s plates, mugs, cutlery, utensils, frying pan and a kettle and coffee maker. I’d advise you to buy some sugar or sweetener if required and bring some fairy liquid and surface cleansing wipes just to maintain the hygiene whilst cooking or making food at the apartment. They do provide some dishwasher tablets however! I brought my own dish cloth and hand cloths for wiping dishes and hands after reading the initial reviews and im glad i did, as the apartment doesn’t provide this. I also brought my own tea bags as we drink at least two cups a day between us. The apartment could do with providing some cling film, foil or some sandwich bags/ lunch boxes which would be super helpful for families staying here, we went to the local supermarket and brought some. We also brought some additional toilet rolls not realising there’s some spares under the sinks if you push press the draw. The apartment had a hairdryer but not a very powerful one so I did bring my own, I’m glad I did. They do provide you an iron and ironing board upon request and there is a washing machine and some laundry detergent as well as some laundry pegs although I haven’t quite discovered where to dry the laundry yet. The bathrooms are modern, clean and well maintained. The drain sometimes can be slow to drain but the showers are hot and hand wash and shower gel is provided. The apartment has air con and heating and has an oven, microwave and cooking hob too. The improvements that could really be made that would really help are: 1. Changing the pillows as we found them super uncomfortable and we struggled with a good nights sleep throughout. 2. The sofa is a plastic sofa, it’s not made from fabric which I understand as it’s easy to clean, but again, very uncomfortable to sit on. 3. At the entrance of the apartment, there’s an area where clothes pegs or hooks and a rack could be added for coats and shoes, we hung our coats on chairs despite there being an area for this. 4. Providing dish cloths, fairy liquid and hand towels for the kitchen as well as cling film, foil or sandwich bags or boxes would be super helpful. Otherwise the apartment is very secure as you use a code to get into the garage and a code for your room. The breakfast is also provided from 8-10am everyday, although felt very repetitive and by the end of the week we really couldn’t eat it again, but it’s nutritious, it keeps you full

Convenient, clean and well equipped. Good facilities gym, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, pool if you want them. Breakfast not bad. Underground parking to save your rentals wing mirrors. You should expect a message with the key code for the door as reception is not attend 24×7, message them if you don't have one. The road up is steep and the road down to Rua do Peru is interesting and probably best avoided although Google maps will suggest you go that way.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The apartment we rented was amazing, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The location is amazing too. So close to everything. The staff are great. The included breakfast is really good. Internet was fast. The atmosphere of the stay was very relaxed. Excellent value. Recommend it to anyone wanting a great and hassle free accommodation on the island.

Excellent in every way. The accommodation is spacious, stylish with a well equipped kitchen and kept in an immaculate condition by housekeeping. What sets this apart from any similar establishment is the staff who went above and beyond to make our experience so enjoyable, in spite of the weather. They were incredibly helpful and kind, arranging laundry and ensuring we were comfortable at all times. On site parking and an excellent breakfast were a plus Thank you everyone

Great location, helpful and friendly staff, fabulous facilities for a small hotel. Subtle stylish Christmas vibe was appreciated! Our apartment was surprisingly spacious and well equipped. Overall the hotel represents fantastic value for money. We would stay again
