We arrived somewhat unexpectedly because our reservation elsewhere was cancelled, but Hotel Recour, ended up being a great hotel is a lovely town.

Klassiek hotel in het centrum van Poperinge. Kamers liggen verspreid tussen een historisch pand en een recenter gebouw achteraan in de tuin. Verblijf in het historisch karaktervol pand. Zeer ruime kamer met terras. Gelet op historisch karakter van het pand werkt de airco suboptimaal. Goed ontbijt met lokale specialiteiten ( lees, kaas, edm.) dat zowel binnen als op het terras wordt geserveerd. Voldoende parkeergelegenheid (privé en publiek). Restaurant Pegasus in het hotel is ook aan te raden.

The location of this hotel is great, and we were welcomed very politely by the young man on reception and his younger sister showed us to our room as he had broken his leg so was in plaster!
We had booked one of the more expensive rooms in the old building and although the suite was sprawling it was apparent that it could do with a bit of maintenance. The mosaic tiles were starting to come off the shower floor (the shower head and pressure were brilliant) and the jets in the hydro bath didn't work.
The breakfast selection was massive, and there was definitely something for everyone. We were offered breakfast on our terrace one morning due to the low occupancy of the hotel (Sunday night), and we had a huge trolley of food brought to us which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The location of the hotel allowed us to walk the two minutes into the town square where there are plenty of restaurants to enjoy, if you don't eat at the hotel.

What a shame. Reviews and photography are good. Reality lets it down. We had a room on the second floor attic. It looked lovely, would have photographed beautifully. Every detail let this room down. Parts of it were dusty. In the mini bar was 4 beers, 3 cokes and a tiny bottle of water. Nowhere to get any more water. Restaurant closed, no one on reception. Water out of the cold tap ran warm and never went cold. There were 3 pods for the coffee maker, no milk. When we arrived we were told not to use the beautiful antique bath but the shower worked. The shower did not work. No water came from it. It had probably not worked for eons on closer inspection. The final indignity came at breakfast when you had to get your own coffee from a coffee maker by pressing a button on the machine. And breakfast was €20 each. Final note - the bathroom was open. Which is fine if you like to watch your partner using the loo from the comfort of your bed. This gets 2 stars only because the bed was comfy. A triumph of style over substance and they wanted €245 for the room! That is a joke

Hotel Recour biedt klassieke luxe-kamers aan waarbij iedere kamer qua design anders is ingericht. De kamers zijn vrij prijzig maar zijn dan ook alle denkbare luxe voorzien. Zeer uitgebreid en lekker ontbijt. Mogelijkheid tot parking achter het hotel. Ideale ligging in hartje Poperinge voor uitstappen naar de WO1 graven of ontdekking van Heuvelland. Ten zeerste aan te raden !

We hadden een twee bongobonnen “vorstelijk ontbijt“, boekten vooraf en kregen bevestiging voor de reservatie. Om 9.15 uur waren we ter plaatse. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en naar de ontbijtzaal begeleid. Maar die bleek opgeruimd en het personeelslid was duidelijk niet op de hoogte. Beetje bij beetje kwam er een en ander op tafel, weze het wel in kleine hoeveelheden (restjes?) maar niets leek spontaan. Het gaf ons de indruk dat niets voorbereid was en er precies nog nooit een vorstelijk ontbijt werd geserveerd… achteraf gezien was hetgeen ons aangeboden werd niet slecht maar het voldeed zeker niet aan onze verwachtingen. Ontgoocheld, zeker gezien de kostprijs van dergelijk bon!
