My partner and I stayed at Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers for a weekend in Wellington. We had a private room with ensuite bathroom. The room was tidy and clean, located at the end of the hallway (quiet - Bonus point!). The staff was friendly as well. The Hotel is in a perfect location: close to the Beehive and in walking distance to the CBD, Te Papa, Cable Car etc. Can recommend!

Looking out from the hotel is the Petone bay, very clean, will definitely stay here again next time I come back.

It's an older hotel and the halls smell a little funky but that quickly fades. The rooms show some signs of wear but are clean and have all the things you need. The bed was clean and comfy. The dining room was cozy and inviting. There seemed to be a little confusion in the kitchen, I know places are short staffed, but the food that arrived I really enjoyed. It is close to lots of things, I was on foot for this trip. The value was good for the price and I would stay here again.

The reservation was for Lower Hart, but the hotel location is some distance from Lower Hart. The sanitation is slightly worse, the quilt is darker, and it feels unwashed.

The floor height of the room is low and oppressive, the bathroom scale does not work, other supporting facilities are OK! There are special juices for breakfast, great! The food options include porridge but the taste is generally appropriate, other foods are ok!

I agree with one reviewer that it was dark. My room had windows but they faced the inside of the building so very little light could get into the room. It is an old building with ”character” and comes with a small kitchen. The TV was okay but stations limited to anything to get excited about. Grocery nearby as well as MANY restaurants. It is a distance from the ferry so a taxi is required. There were 3 packets of instant coffee and not replenished for the second day; use tea instead! I loved having the washer and dryer and having talked to the young man at the desk I had no problem using them. FYI the desk closes 8pm and the front door is locked so if you are out after that, be sure you know how to get in! There isn't anyone at the desk in the morning until 9am, so if you need a taxi have a plan. I had a bit of an issue but calling from the room to a ”contact person” who called for the taxi worked. My trip organizer booked for me so I have no idea the pricing and whether it was ”fair”.

I have stayed in this wonderful establishment at least twice a month for the past 4 months for business. I have been meaning to write a review for a long time. Firstly heads up to the amazing Gurdev, office manager who quite frankly deserves a medal (or at least a pay rise) for his absolutely outstanding customer service. Not only does he make me feel welcome, but goes above and beyond to make sure that nothing is ever a problem. I have observed his interactions with other guests and I’m sure they would also say the same should they chose to review. Although very close to Jackson street, I have never been bothered by noise. A handy walk to many excellent eateries. The rooms are beautifully cleaned by lovely cleaning staff. Some rooms are a little small, it doesn’t bother me as I’m just there to sleep basically. Bed’s super comfortable. What’s not to like… if you want to stay in Petone I would highly recommend

Have stayed at this Ibis in central Wellington twice now, and it never disappoints = you know just what you'll get; clean and functional spaces, rooms, bathrooms etc. Breakfast was very good also, and plentiful. Pleasant staff throughout also; an all-round positive experience as part of work travels. Although Ibis is predominantly a budget hotel brand elsewhere in the world, such as Europe - this hotel is priced for location, and the local market; hence mid-range.
