The Island House Hotel

If you have a soft spot for historic properties, stay here instead of the chains. Very close to lake, restaurants and ferry. Standard room was small and lacked view (and enough towels) but clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Yes, there were mayflies outside, it's mayfly season. There did not seem to be breakfast.

What a beautiful and unique hotel with some cool history! Dis not see any ghosts but heard some noises here and there. Its centrally located by the water and access to Put in Bay where we went. It was a very peaceful escape and very relaxing time We had here. We had a room with a nice jacuzzi. Will definitely venture back here when the cold Weather breaks. The staff were also friendly ans accomodating.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. T I had booked a suite, and got a standard room. It did have a jacuzzi, but it was unusable, as there was no hot water. There was a hole in the floor with carpet laid over it. The bed was set on a metal frame which I banged my shin on. The hotel only supplied one set of towels. There did not appear to be heat, so don't go in winter. There was a window air conditioner, and had an ugly view of an alley. I booked through ***********, and received no response to my complaint.

Tho this hotel is historic and folks do well to provide clean rooms,the hotel has few amenities..and staff do not provide much if any work to make the hotel inviting from the outside as beer/pop cans and piles of mayflies greet the customer on the entrance..ugh

We spent the evening at The Island House Hotel, we needed a getaway. The charm of this historic hotel was a special relief from the ver-blown chain motels. The great staff and location are beyond excellent. We had a suite so we had plenty of room to hang out after checking out the local dining and shopping steps away from the hotel. The bed was very comfortable too. We will be back soon.

I don’t even know where to start. We came to Port Clinton for a weekend visit. After an 8 hour drive we checked in to the Island House to find: Crumbs on the floor Crumbs on the table, - looked like we interrupted someone snack time What looked like a LARGE PEE STAIN on the sheets!! Many items and fixtures coated with dust Dirty coffee maker and refrigerator Oh, and there was an entire bar of soap in the toilet…. On a positive note, the staff responded immediately with apologies and quick action from the front desk and cleaning staff and a discount on the room. We would have preferred a clean, comfortable room. When asked to switch our room, so we didn’t have to wait, we were told nothing was available?, even though other guests had not checked in for the night yet. this is the second time in 5 years we visited this place and had similar experience, we will not give it a third try.

This is definitely an historic hotel. The rooms are very small. The staff that greeted us was friendly and helpful. We basically just needed a place to sleep for the night, so the small room didn't bother us and our room was clean. The shower was adequate, I don't remember breakfast being available.

We tend to stay in older, historic hotels because they are usually centrally located. Despite needing a little tlc, the Island House was a near perfect experience. Lisa, behind the desk, saw to our every need and was spot on with recommendations. Close to everything any visitor would need, this charming hotel was a big part of an extremely pleasant getaway.

Hi, We spent the evening at The Island House Hotel this weekend. The charm, great staff and location is above beyond excellent. We have stayed here in the past and had another wonder stay. This was our first visit during the holidays. The entrance and lobby was very festive and had the vintage charm that you thought you'd find at this historical venue. The room was great. We had a suite so we had plenty of room to hang out after checking out the local dining and shopping steps away from the hotel. The bed was very comfortable too. We will be back soon.
