Tropical Hideaway

Outstanding vacation stay. Thoroughly recommended. It starts with the welcome. Genuine smiles and a welcome drink that exceeded our expectations. I often politely pass on the welcome drinks in other commercial hotels but there was no holding back on a proper welcome drink here. Martin and Julie offered to top-up as we were guided to our room and we didn't refuse. The entire experience was exactly what we needed and we didn't realize at the time. We'd been in need of a few days to take it easy having been very active the prior week. What we didn't realize was just how perfect this place was. The hint is in the name but we were about to learn just how apt that name is. The experience did not disappoint. The view is second to none, the pool refreshing and spacious, the room inviting and comfortable and the ground immaculately gardened. We enjoyed a very relaxing stroll around. The welcome included some genuine tasty surprises (we'll won't spoil them) and set the scene for an unforgettable stay. The owners, Julie and Martin have themselves a wonderful story. Once their welcome is complete, the place really becomes yours to enjoy during your stay uninterrupted. If you've any questions, or need anything, including currency exchange or taxi help, it's easily taken care, and without fuss. Everything is designed and implemented to make the experience enjoyable, carefree and relaxing. Put simply, the place is a gem and we almost don't want to share information about it. We'd have absolutely no reservations recommending this to our family and friends.

We stayed in the Penthouse for 7 nights - If you think the views from Tropical Hideaway look amazing in the photos you will be blown away even more when you see them for real. ! Enjoying them from the infinity pool is magical . The Penthouse was spotlessly clean, kitted out with brand new appliances and equipment. The enormous comfy bed with the 1000 thread Egyptian cotton sheets were heavenly. Martin & Julie have thoughtfully designed this suite - all the electrical points in the right places together with mirrors and plenty of easily accessible space for your toiletries .Better wi-fi connection than the UK! The goodies in the starter pack were perfect - homemade bread, eggs, milk, juice , wine, beers , fruit, salad - Julie had even washed the lettuce for us. There is a shop on site offering all you would ever wish for, including homecooked meals. This is so useful as its quite a tricky walk down to sea level- we didn't attempt it coming back ! If you can tear yourself away from this incredible Hideaway, then a trip to The Tobago Cays is a must - only 1.5hrs on speedboat - We went with Clara Tours, Bruce & Dion looked after us very well & provided us with excellent snorkelling equipment , fruits, homemade banana cake & rum punch ! Safety measures were 100%. Martin & Julie are the perfect hosts & couldn't have been more helpful .Their knowledge & contacts on Bequia are exemplary. Unless you enjoy Pizza & Chicken wings the restaurants around Bequia were generally disappointing . Jacks was the best all-around for service & food. We were more than super pleased with the Hideaway.

After a week sailing on a catamaran around St Vincent and the Grenadines and we wanted to spend a few days relaxing somewhere on dry land before heading home. We chose Bequia, and I am so glad that we did! Bequia is a jewel of an island nestled in the Grenadines with a famous neighbor; the perennial celebrity favorite, Mustique. In fact, we saw Mick Jagger as soon as we stepped on the dinghy dock to grab our taxi! It boasts pristine and peaceful white sandy beaches and perfectly clear turquoise waters. It has a wonderfully charming atmosphere that harkens back to a Caribbean from before all-inclusive mega-resorts and noisy jet-skis circling swimmers! Bequia offers the ultimate tranquil escape. The moment we arrived at Tropical Hideaway we were greeted with delicious rum punch and then taken on a tour of the grounds. The views were overwhelmingly beautiful, especially from the infinity pool overlooking the harbor. We were shown to our villa and shown how everything worked and also given welcome provisions complete with fresh home baked bread, butter, cheese, milk, coffee, tea, fruit, nuts, and even a couple of beers. They operate a small shop on-site that sells home-cooked meals, snacks, wine, liquor, and soft drinks, all at the same prices you pay at the shops in town (no crazy hotel mark-ups!). This is a wonderful convenience to have since the nearest shop is about a 20 minute walk away. Our villa, Palm Cottage, had a large terrace overlooking the harbor and it felt very private. It had a small dining table and chairs and also two big comfy outdoor armchairs that were perfect for sitting and enjoying our morning coffee. There was a hummingbird feeder hanging right outside and I loved watching the birds come and go. There were also little lizards darting around and I even saw a tortoise just below the terrace walking down the hillside. The villa felt very spacious and it was great having a small kitchen for making breakfast and keeping our wine chilled in the fridge. There is ample storage space and all practical things have been considered, including screens on the windows, which meant not having to worry about insects despite having the windows open to get the breeze blowing through. We used the aircon at night and it worked great and kept us cool and comfortable. Because the hotel is high up the hillside, we usually walked down to the beaches / town and then caught taxis back up the hill at the end of the day or after dinner. We did walk up the stairs one afternoon and it was quite a workout, but there are little places to stop and sit and catch your breath. Princess Margaret Beach The gardens and the pool are absolutely stunning. Words truly cannot do it justice. It was all breathtaking. There are plenty of sun loungers to relax on and there is a shaded gazebo with a daybed. This place is the very best! Our second time here and can not say enough about the Hideaway. The accommodations are 6 star and Martin and Julie are the best hosts we have ever met. The views of Admiralty Bay are stunning and the on site meals and store are wonderful. Met many new friends here again and so looking forward to returning next year! Dale and Marlene

We have written several glowing reviews about the outstanding accommodations, beautiful views and grounds of Tropical Hideaway. Our views have not changed this year ('feb - March 2024). What we would like to emphasize in this year's review concerns the owners of Tropical Hideaway. Julie and Martin enjoy being hosts and succeed in that role immeasurably. Nothing seems to please them more than ensuring your comfort and enjoyment. They strive to have their varied international visitors enjoy each other and to get to know their facility, the beautiful and unpretentious island of Bequia, and its wonderful people. In the three years we have stayed at 'Tropical Hideaway we have made many friends, not the least of which include Julie and Martin. We have booked again for next year and beyond. Tropical hideaway is an idyllic, absolutely stunning, little gem tucked away in Bequia. The views from the infinity pool were some of the best we have ever experienced (and we are both well travelled!) Martin and Julie were wonderful hosts, and had lots of insight and knowledge about things to do in the island, and on the other grenadine islands nearby.

We have never stayed anywhere more magical! The owners are the sweetest. They have thought about every detail, it is pure perfection. The view is like nothing I have seen before- pictures honestly don’t do it justice, it is jaw dropping. There is a small shop on property where you can buy food, snacks and alcohol (try the roti it’s incredible). Definitely order the breakfast it is so delicious, the plantains are out of this world. There is nowhere else on the island that compares! We cannot wait to come back!

I was lucky enough to make this trip, not sure what to expect. I was elated to see the villas in such magnificent splendor. Truly an amazing space. The rooms were varied in design, all spectacular. With all the conveniences One would desire. Fresh water , pristine rooms. In house store for food and sundries The care takers and staff were there for you always with a greeting and a smile. The grounds are stunning and the infinity pool was a wonder. A five star rating is too little. Ten star is more appropriate. I will return again as you need to visit “Paradise” often from now on. I can’t say enough. Spectacular!

My wife and I were in need of a bit of a getaway, we found fares to St. Vincent and Bequia, and packed up for an adventure. We were exceedingly fortunate to find a last-minute deal for a lovely private room at the Tropical Hideaway. The room was beautiful, offered a balcony and a brilliant view of the harbor. Martin and Julie greeted us when we arrived, and made the stay very pleasant. The pool was amazing (we saw the green flash on our first sunset there!) and we enjoyed speaking with the other guests in the common areas. The shop was very inclusive (in fact, we say that if we go back we won't need to worry about food at all) and prices are very fair. Wine selection was great! The water source is filtered rainwater so it was so nice to be able to drink right from the tap. The bed was exceedingly comfortable. Martin and Julie had great cab connections and also offered very helpful activity information. We took the Friendship Rose for a day cruise to the Tobago Cays, swam with sea turtles and had a wonderful time (we highly recommend that as an activity not affiliated with Tropical Hideaway). Honestly, should we ever find ourselves back in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (and we hope to!), we'll head to Bequia and stay here the whole time. It's truly magical.
