Danfords Hotel & Marina

I have lived in LI my whole life and selected Danford’s for my wedding night stay. I was so disappointed. We said it was a wedding night and asked if they would do anything special, but there was nothing. The base cost of the room is a lie and the “resort fees” are ridiculous for what you get. When I asked at the desk why my room was $70 over what I booked, the desk attendants were guessing the fees but weren’t even sure. The continental breakfast was pathetic for the cost of the room and fees. The food was scarce and coffee was out. We got half a cup of lukewarm coffee. Very disappointed in a hotel near our home which we were excited to try and were disappointed by.

The property was beautiful and quiet for the off season. The free drink at the bar and the warm cookies in the lobby was a nice touch.

The location is great - easily within walking distance of shops and restaurants in Port Jeff. Parking is available when you stay at Danfords. Here's where they are periodically lacking - hospitality. One time we stayed there and the heat was not on when we checked in. It was only in the 50s in our room so I reported it, turned the heat on and snuggled in. We also got drink coupons and were told the bar closes at 11. We got there well before closing time and the bar was closed. We could see past these issues however we encountered a fairly frustrating issue with our most recent stay. Danfords offers a breakfast in the bar area. My husband brought our 11 year old daughter to get some breakfast, and there was no milk for her cereal and no one in the bar area to replenish items. My husband went to the front desk and asked for milk. Right away she walked over to the bar area and replaced the coffee but not the milk, returning to the front desk. Time goes by, no milk, he asks again and she says she will call someone again. We are now ready to depart and still no milk so we ask an employee that walks by. He got us milk immediately and apologizes. After our daughter finishes her food, we go to pack our bags into our car and the front desk woman does not acknowledge the delay, does not thank us for our patronage, nothing. My husband was very respectful and kind with every request. I then check out and ask her if it's normal to wait over 15 minutes just for milk. She says she doesn't work for the restaurant and could only make calls. This was frustrating because she replenished the coffee. Overall it was just a very annoying experience and this woman should not be working in hospitality. I tried to engage management regarding this matter and have not yet heard back; it's been a week thus far. Guests should expect more when staying at Danfords.

First off tried calling front desk multiple times and no one answers the phone.2 made reservations on line and dates were incorrect and needed to be addressed again no one answered phone.Finally talked to front desk and she had no authority to change reservation. The manager called and straightened it out said she would email confirmation and never did. Mind you I had told her I would be attending a funeral.So at that point I just arrived on Monday the 8th . Luckily the room was ready.Then I attended morning service for the funeral and come back to my room My wife and I were sitting ther and housekeeper just walks in No knock or anything. Are you kidding!Then as far as the condition of your establishment you should probably just burn it down and let a real Hotel rebuild it . I grew up in Setauket and lived in the area my whole life what a shame..

Quick weekend away, chose danfords. Room was really nice, very clean and unique. Bed was brand new and super comfortable. Only Complaint is the TV- they need to get with the times and have an available streaming service. I ended up watching cable which I haven’t done in years.

Lovely staff. Wish better option for continental breakfast and wish they had a gym. Perfect accommodations.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Danfords this past weekend. The staff at the front desk and restaurant were very friendly and accommodating! We booked a village room and were so surprised that we were upgraded to a beautiful suite without asking. The room was clean and well maintained. We have been doing staycations at Danfords for over 10 years and this was the best stay we have had yet. Thank you.

We stayed at Danfords for our 39th wedding anniversary and had a great time. The room was very clean and the view was wonderful. The only thing that I was not too happy about was the menu at the restaurant. It was very limited

Beautiful part of the State, beautiful area, when I go to New York its for fun in the big city, but my wife is from Long Island and I have never seen where she grew up and she hasnt been back much in the past 35 years, so it was our 6th Anniversary and celebrated it with some of her old Friends and her Brother came from CT, which they have a ferry to and from, and its right by the Hotel, id definately go back, next time for a longer stay!!!
