Got off to a great start.  Nice room, slightly dated but that only added to its charm.  Room was spotless as was all other areas of the hotel. Icing on the cake was a magnificent view from the large windows.   Dinner & service was great.  Sadly it was all downhill from there.    Had shower in the morning and needed to use the hairdryer. It kept cutting out due to it overheating or a loose wire. I went to reception to ask for a replacement to be told there was none and as the hotel was full one could not be retrieved from another room. I was then sent back to my room with a potentially dangerous hairdryer. I wasn't taking anymore chances and had to go for breakfast with soaking wet hair. After breakfast we went to check out and settle our bill. We had a £40 voucher towards dinner the night before and we had been careful to note what we had and what the excess we would have to pay when checking out. For good measure we even took a picture of the menu/pricelist. The rude receptionist that had sent us back to the room with the faulty hairdryer was on the desk. She asked us to pay an amount that was not consistent with our records. We then asked to see an itemised bill. The bill showed a charge for "deposit refunded". We asked what this was and she said it was a refund. We asked if its a refund why is it added to the bill? She then hummed and hawed and asked if we had a drink at the bar (we had paid cash for our drinks) - what that had to do with adding a deposit was beyond us. To cut this long review short - check your bill - do not accept an amount without seeing an itemised bill. And take care with the electric appliances!!

Hotel is a bit dated and feels a bit like an old folks home. Room 12 was great and clean enough. Could do with bathroom repaint and usual wee bits of mould in the bathroom dealt with. Main areas reception ,dining room and bar were nice overlooking the bay . Staff were fabulous very polite and attentive l. Whisky's very overpriced for what they were. Didn’t eat in hotel other than breakfast which was a good selection and fried breakfast was good. Evening meals looked ok from what I saw. Overall can’t complain but with wee tweaks could be nicer.

My wife and I are just back home after a 2 night stay at the Fernhill Hotel. We had a lovely time , this is a great hotel in a stunning location with the most Amazing view of Portpatrick. It's not a New Hotel by any stretch of the imagination and some places are showing signs of wear but nothing drastic and it all adds to the Hotels charm. We stayed in room 46 which was HUGE and had a stunning view of Portpatrick Harbour. Breakfast was Brilliant , Fresh and plenty of choice, we ate in the Hotels restaurant for one night and the food was good , cooked well and well presented at a reasonable price. The thing that stood out about the Hotel was the Staff, everyone we came into contact with were Brilliant, Friendly, Helpful and very Professional, my wife took a shine to the Gardner. All in all a great stay in a Lovely Hotel, thank you to all involved 👍🏻

Stayed at the Fernhill Hotel last Saturday. We were only there for one night but could’ve easily stayed for a few more. We had room 42, which is one of eight with balconies and fantastic views of the harbour. Yes the room is a little dated, but this only adds to its charm. It was also spotless and kept at a nice temperature. The staff at check in and at breakfast were very helpful and friendly. Big shout out to Matty who checked us in and kept us well informed about the Hotels facilities. Only downside on our short stay was the superking bed, it was too soft for us. The breakfast we had before we left was very good and there was quite an extensive menu. Dinner is available at night but we had chosen to eat when we were out. We would certainly look to stay at the Fernhill Hotel the next time we were in Portpatrick and we would try and get a room that gives us those amazing views.

We have just returned from a 3 night break at Fernhill Hotel. From the moment you arrive until the moment you left. We were well looked after by all staff in hotel. Each and every one of you are a credit to the hotel. Big shout out to Rosie who clearly loves her job always smiling and happy to help. We originally booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for another night. I would say this is the best hotel in Portpatrick. Good size room. We had room 37 with balcony a table and 2 chairs. Nice to sit outside in the morning with a coffee and enjoy the views. Great choice of menus for breakfast also evening meal. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re thinking of booking a trip to Portpatrick. Mrs Doreen Anderson

The staff are friendly and attentive Breakfast had plenty of choice dinner not so much and very over priced. Room had a stunning view but sadly no table or chairs on the veranda to enjoy our coffee in the morning. Room smells musty and needs repairing peeling paint broken fixtures and dead bugs on the ceiling

I was so disappointed with my two day break after having a lovely experience a year previously. I have given it three stars as room was good and staff lovely. The dinner was very disappointing, it is overpriced for poor quality food, frozen chips, rasteless food. The breakfast was nice but dinner was terrible.

Another visit back to this lovely hotel, made better by the lovely staff, especially Rosie who is a credit to the owners. They make your stay very special, beautiful views of the village from the hotel, make it a very relaxing venue to stay. Will be back again soon.

The Staff were lovely and so friendly. The food was very tasty and well presented. The large room with a view had a fabulous Emperor Bed (7'x7') so comfy and whole room spotless. Breakfast was tasty. The dining room looks out onto the fabulous sea view.
