Boulder Junction Motor Lodge

Hotel was very clean and management was friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable and recently updated rooms. Hotel is quintessential Northwoods and well located in boulders junction— very close to several restaurants and walkable to downtown.

Been here twice before, owners on site, very helpful. Really liked this place. Now key codes and security cameras only, no coffee or snacks in lobby. Nothing. $48 cleaning fee for one night stay. With HVAC unit on it sprayed a pee smell into the room. Called a phone number and got automated chat thing. Thought it was odd we were only customers there. I can see why. We come to bike the wonderful trails in the area. The website makes it clear this place is not bike friendly. Oh, and if you punch out past the 10 am checkout time it’s $ 75 charge for each hour. Never again. There are other places in town.

i have coming to this motel for a number of years and with all the changes with new owners its unreal how it has changed. i go same time every year in august and the NO VACANCY sign was always now there were maybe two other cars than mine except for Thursday night and that was only because there was a festival that weekend in town. 1st all you do is push buttons for your code to get into every door a pain in the butt also there is no one at motel to talk too with any questions the previous owners were a family that were on the premises all the time. just look at reviews from Feb 2023 and back and you with see how the guests enjoyed that. i was there for 5 days 4 night and not once did a cleaning person come in the room to refresh towels or change bedding. i did run out of towels and had to call a 800 number out in Utah told her i needed towels she said they are on main floor i told her there is only one floor but where are they she put me on hold finally came back to tell me where they are and yes again you push more buttons to open cabinet. the place is not kept as clean either finger prints on glass door the waste basket in lobby by sink was not empty the whole time i was there and up to the top. the bathroom in lobby the cover on tank of toilet was missing and waste basket also full the whole time. i did talk to couple of people staying there and they were not happy with new concept one person told me if he knew this was a self serve motel he would have never booked it. i am sorry this isn't a perfect review but this is a small 20 room motel in a little town in northern Wisconsin and this is not the way they are looking for. they want to talk to some one to ask where can i get a good old fashion or where is a the best burger in town not a stack of menus on a table.

This motel no longer has on site managers. Entry is with codes. The place itself is immaculate and updated. The bathrooms look brand new. The beds are comfortable. The room was stocked with plenty of towels for the 3 nights we were there. The lobby has new furniture and is very comfortable for visiting with others. The problem for our group is that there is no longer a bicycle storage garage. In years past bicycles were kept in a large on-site garage. The rules now clearly state no bicycles in rooms or even parked near the motel. Since that’s the reason we come, to bike the beautiful trails, it was a problem. The other issue that happened frequently as we visited in the lobby room was that people couldn’t get inside. We let 4 different couples in. Two couples had not received emails with the codes or even a room #. There’s a rental service, similar to an Air B&B, that handles things by phone. People were not happy about having to spend time dealing with it. Our code was emailed to us and we had no problems getting inside. We didn’t mind having no on-site managers but not having a storage area for the bikes is a deal breaker for us.

We have been going to this hotel for years, but will not return. The new owners are not on-site. When we arrived we could not get into the building. It was very difficult to reach anyone on the phone (you cannot talk to a machine). They had given us the wrong code, not even close to what it should of been. We used to love all the personal touches by all the previous owners and loved talking with them. We will not be back and have already looked into other accommodations when we visit the area.

Very clean, quiet and near bike trails. It's pretty bare bones and feels impersonal since the former owners sold it earlier this year. Booking is done online and a code for the entry doors and your room is emailed/texted to you at the check-in time of 4:00. There is no management on the site since new owners took over. We've been going there a couple of times a year for probably 20 years, but this will be our last time. Again, no complaints about the condition of the facility, just that it's not our "home away from home" that we looked forward to visiting each summer.

Very a clean, quiet, and comfortable motel. Accommodated our special needs. The lobby area was comfortable for visiting with friends. We loved the upnorth decor. Was close enough to the hospital in Woodruff.

We loved our stay at The Boulder Junction Motor Lodge. We have stayed here multiple times and each stay has been fantastic! The owners are such wonderful people and so is the staff! The rooms are always super clean. The view from the back rooms is amazing and we saw deer outside everyday! We will for sure be back and we will bring donuts! 😉

My wife & I have been going up north for a 3-4 day snowmobiling get-away for the past 18 years & have always stayed at the Boulder Junction Motor Lodge. The trails, gas and dining are close as well as a snowmobile rental service right next door. This past weekend we spent 4 days and unfortunately had some ice and freezing ran over night on Friday. The parking lot was a sheet of ice on Saturday morning but by 8:00 John [the owner] was out with his tractor scraping the top layer of ice away with his bucket and allowed the snow underneath to reemerge. Which gave the sleds as well as the walking surface back to normal. Not many owners would take the time and effort to accommodate their guests. That night we received 4-6 inches of new snow and the trails were fantastic for our Sunday ride. How great it was to sit around the fire in the lobby and talk with other guests after a long ride and hit the hot tub [holds 8-10 people] and relax your body. Our appreciation goes out to John and his family for their hospitality and making us feel special. We will be back next year and many to follow.
