Huff Estates Inn & Winery

Spent an incredible Birthday getaway for my Husband at this beautiful inn. The staff were all friendly, personable and accommodating. Special shout out to Brian at the winery, James and Meghan at the Inn.We also had the unexpected pleasure of meeting the owner, Mr. Huff, who was charming. The accommodations were cosy, modern and clean. Breakfast was delicious, and the adjacent art gallery was an added bonus. Can’t wait to go back.❣️❣️

This would be a very good $120 a night hotel, but it's a bit of a stretch to say the same for a $230 a night inn, which this is for a mid-week stay (more on the weekend apparently, and more during high season). Truth be told, I was expecting maybe just a bit more than was experienced. The hotel common areas and certainly the room (number 3) are looking just a tad shop-worn and sadly dated. The darker 1990s decor looks just that. The little patio area off the room was appreciated although it, too, is rather sad looking. As an example of the need for a re-fresh, why would the hotel use brown-tinted curtains in the breakfast room? Let in the light! The staff were capable and we had no issues during our stay. Everything functioned as it should and the place was very clean. Just tired looking. There was an annoying heater/air conditioner unit our neighbours in the next room had running all night which meant a trade-off between a stuffy room or opening the patio door for air (there is a screen) and living with the noise. Breakfast was unremarkable and disappointing after reviews I had read to the contrary. Basic things as you find in any hotel with a "free" breakfast these days. Lipstick on a pig, friends, although it is smeared in this case.

We booked the overnight stay with 1/2 day wine tour and had a great time! Our room was ready when we arrived at noon. It was clean, comfortable and had a few complimentary cans of the All Day Rose! The wine tour was great, good wineries and John our tour driver was very personable. The room was nice and quiet and breakfast in the morning was perfect, with made to order omelets. The only negative would be the lack of dining options in the winter. Picton is close by, but taxis are pricey at $30 each way. They are also very limited so be sure to call in advance or be prepared to wait 45 minutes plus.

Stayed as a couple for 3 days in September. Our room was open and airy with a private patio area to enjoy the outdoors. Fantastic setup to relax indoors as well with a TV and fireplace. Included breakfast was a tastey treat of freshly cooked omelet and bacon, sausage, hash browns with welcoming servers in a bright and cheery breakfast room. Also walked a short distance on the grounds to enjoy their estate wines and wood fired pizza. We enjoyed a walk through the outdoor sculpture garden which is also on the grounds. Great setup! Lovely setting for a holiday.

It was quiet. Couple things I don’t think was right - cigarette butt inside our room likely tracked in as there was an ash tray on the ledge outside. - at breakfast we were told the chef was not in and if we wanted anything cooked we’d have to cook our own.

We liked the quiet location of the property. A highlight was the art gallery on the property with a beautiful sculpture garden. Also the complimentary breakfast was a surprise that it was a full breakfast. Of course we enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting .

The art gallery is a lovely bonus feature.
