Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Prineville, or

I love the Country Inn and will stay there when I can, ever since the chain remodel a decade or so ago. I showed up very early but the desk person checked me in with no bother. The room was typical for the chain, spacious, well-laid-out, and immaculate. I’d been on the road for a week or so (motorcycle trip) so took advantage of the guest laundry facilities which I know I can find at every CI&S. There was a convenience store and Mexican take-out place next door, so in my tired state I didn’t have to go searching for food and refreshments. In short, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly.

In spite of requesting a ground floor room, I was assigned a room on the top floor. At check-in, I was told that it was too late to do anything about it because they were fully booked. Note that I was checking in at the earliest possible time and there was a line of people checking in behind me, so there were probably many people that hadn't yet checked in that hadn't made a ground floor request and for whom it wouldn't have mattered. Too make matters worse, there are no elevators, so if you're assigned an upper floor room and have a lot of heavy bags as we needed for our trip, you're going to be lugging them up multiple flights of stairs.

This hotel has a bar next door. It sort of spills into the front hotel parking lot. You'll get 10% off if you go there. You may want to skip it. As we arrived, some locals were sitting in front loudly cussing each out and accusing each other of past beatings. Has the feeling of an outside meeting place for bad boy biker bands who have lost their day jobs. We were in a bottom story unit. Most likely entrance was through the back door. The lock is busted out so anyone ( and many do) wonder in. Hallway to the room smells of bug spray, cigs, musty, non-cleaning, etc. Room was not very clean. Exposed writing leading to the lamp on left side of bed. Very stained arm of sitting chairs. We were a bit scared to speculate on the source of the stains. Bathroom was decent. They recently put in new flooring which was nice upgrade. As we were unpacking, there were a few people outside of our window arguing and threatening each other. Beside them was a Honda SUV with ALL of the windows busted out. It apparently is the normal state for this vehicle as it was parked in the back Econolodge lot the next morning. We checked out a day early and gleefully paid more to sleep in a different city the next night. There isn't a lot of hotel/motel supply in this town so maybe you'll need to do the same and just make the 30 minute drive in. Employees (two females) where very polite and tried to be helpful. They were the bright spot during out mid September stay. They deserve a raise.
