Waves Hotel and Spa by Elegant Hotels - All-Inclusive

From the minute me and my daughter arrived until the minute we left, we were spoilt by the staff. They remembered our room number at meal times. They remembered what excursions we had booked and asked how they were when we returned. Everyone was really friendly. The spa treatments were amazing, and people should make the most of this service. We are already looking to return for another amazing holiday!

My wife and I spent 2 weeks at the Waves Hotel & Spa and had an excellent holiday. Hotel Room The air-conditioned room was excellent. 3rd Floor with a great view towards the sea. King size bed, sofa, mini fridge, coffee/tea, bathroom with large walk-in shower (note - no bathtub but won’t matter to most people). Housekeeping were excellent and they ensured the room was freshened up daily as well as topping up coffee, water etc Restaurant We really liked the layout of the restaurant, with views out to sea. Breakfast was often buffet style and an egg bar for omelettes etc. Lunch was buffet style with a chef also providing extras like wraps etc. Dinner was mainly a la carte and there were plenty of variety. We both really enjoyed all the food provided. The staff were attentive and ensured that you had ample water (and alcoholic drinks as required). There was also a cafe which provided snacks and cakes (even gluten free options). The cafe was sometimes air-conditioned which was great when it get a bit hot outside. Reception, Bar & waiting staff Staff were always cheery and helpful with suggestions for activities. They even brought frozen grapes, ice lollies, fruit and cool drinks to you at the poolside and on the beach. Pool As part of the resort was being renovated there was only a small pool but we found it ideal as most people went to the beach. It was quite quiet and it was shaded in the afternoon so a very cool place to relax. Perfect for us. Beach The beach was to the front of the resort (down some steps). There were plenty of sunbeds and staff at hand if required. There was a safe area to swim which was away from the water sports. Spa The spa was excellent and we had 3 complimentary treatments each. We tried out the 30 minute couples massage (twice) as well as a scrub (me) and manicure (my wife). TIP – make sure you try out the spa. The staff were really good and had good processes in place to ensure you were comfortable with the treatment. Water Taxi This was a great service and it allowed us to visit other resorts (under the same all-inclusive terms). TIP - It was a nice boat journey and perfect for spending about 90 minutes in a round trip when it was a bit hot to sit in the sun. Gluten Free (Coeliac) experience I always worry a bit when I travel due to my coeliac but I found the resort excellent in catering for my needs. I fact, for 2 weeks I had no problems and was able to select from around 80% of the menu. At buffet time the staff even warned me if they saw me heading towards any items that contained gluten. In fact, I found Barbados generally very good in providing gluten free meals. Far better than UK. Extra special things Everyone seemed to remember our names,. On our anniversary they put rose petals on bed in heart shape and left cake and wine. At meal times I felt I could rely on staff looking after my gluten free requirements. We have today returned from a lovely 10 days stay at Waves. The staff are outstanding, the food was of restaurant standard however I agree that the menu could do with a bit more variation each day. We had a sea front room with a lovely balcony to watch the sun go down. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. There was also a little room with a wardrobe, fridge, kettle, and coffee machine with pods, which were replaced daily. Our cleaner Mary did a great job although we never saw her. The room could do with a bit of an update eg..painting etc but it was good otherwise. We used the water taxi once and went to The Tamarind. Virgin offered to move us there because of the renovations going on at Waves. I'm so glad we stayed where we were. It was very tired and not very clean. I understand its closing in June for major refurbishment...it needs it. We went out on the hobicat, which was great fun. Most of the days were spent on the beautiful beach being waited on, sprayed with a lovely cooling spray, ice lollies ,fruit , wet face cloths and of course cocktails We never had a problem getting sunbeds. In fact, when we left yesterday, there were only a few of us there. We did the Mount *** tour with the hotel and also Oistins on the Friday evening, which was well worth going to just for the experience. We also got a taxi to watch the racehorse swim in the sea. Use the local buses they are also an experience and very cheap. We used Mals taxis to do 4 hour Island tour. If you want a true view of the island, then look him up. He took us to his grandmother's house then for a very cold beer in the village. It was good to see the island without loads of people. He will take you wherever you want to visit and will know all about it. Lastly, we had a few treatments in the hotel spa. They were excellent. My partner had his first manicure. The good to go massage was great. All in all, it was a fabulous holiday. The hotel staff go that extra step to make it special. I booked a trip in July of 2023 for 7 couples to celebrate my birthday at Waves in April of 2024 and in February of 2024 found out they were closing the main pool and one of the restaurants for renovations- to say I was nervous and upset is an understatement. I reached out to the hotel and they assured me my celebration was in good hands - they were 100% correct. I have been going to Barbados for 20 years, with 15 visits in total and this was my first all inclusive. This resort was so amazing - the staff working there was just wonderful and so kind and thought of everything to make our trip amazing. The food was great, as was the manner in which they organized daily activities -very intimate and lovely all inclusive - Ryan thanks so much to you and your team at Waves!!

This is a gem of an hotel. Great position on the west coast, with a small lovely beach. The food was excellent at all meals, with a good choice whether buffet or a la carte. The staff make the hotel so wonderful, going the extra mile with a smile. They make it their business to remember your name, they clearly enjoy their work and it shines through. Special mention to Ryan, Sabrina, Tamika, Jennifer, Shermarke, Jabaar, Christine and Kenrick. Great personalities, professional and a joy to stay in their care.

Loved this hotel but please be aware: The hotel is undergoing renovations until at least June 2024. TUI will not tell you this until just before you go. Be aware that there is only one very small pool, which is only in the sun until lunchtime. This is not being made clear by TUI . It isn’t the fault of the hotel. The open pool is the rectangular family one, which means it is often full of small children playing. Don’t be worried about building work affecting you though because all of that is happening across the road and you wont notice it. We were disappointed about the pool situation, just because my partner has a disability and can’t really go to the beach. It’s impossible for him to walk on sand. You also have to walk down a lot of steps to get to the beach. Other than that though we would definitely return to this hotel. The staff are all lovely and amazing, especially Christine who is just beautiful inside and out - and Pamela who is always smiling and can’t do enough for you. They definitely go above and beyond! We loved that this hotel has its own coffee shop where it’s lovely and cool and relaxing. You can get a sandwich, various coffees and cakes in there during the day and at night time it’s a “grab and go” where sandwiches and snacks are left in the fridge for you to just take. The beach is beautiful. The waves are not too big so it’s easy to get in the sea - but there is a ledge which is harder to get back up when getting out. Plenty of sunbeds but staff are on hand if you’re struggling to find one. As my partner can’t walk on the beach, we managed a couple of days to get sunbeds right at the bottom of the steps, which meant he could just step across. It gets very hot down there though when you can’t go in the sea to cool down. We thought the food was superb. Service could be a little bit slow but definitely worth it when it arrived. I’m vegetarian as well but I never struggled and neither of us had a meal we didn’t enjoy. Room was lovely with great air con, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The shower wasn’t very good, which was the only downside of the room. All in all this hotel is lovely. The people definitely make it and it’s a lovely place to relax. Hope to return.

The loveliest people at this hotel. Rooms are very spacious! Our room was 2 levels and had a great view of the ocean. Location is close to most things. It was nice to be able to hop on and off of the water taxi to see other resorts. The water is pretty rough at the beach but the sand is nice. Walking into the water I would recommend water shoes it is pebbly and the rocks hit you in the feet as you walk in. Also be careful everyday there were kids being washed up by rogue waves on the beach and bumping their heads. All things you should expect to watch out for when swimming in the ocean. Not much to see with a snorkel. Food was hit and miss. It's the staff that makes this hotel fantastic great customer service.
