The hotel is located in the ancient city of Matera. The hotel's lobby, restaurant, and guest rooms are all designed with the original characteristics of the cave. Hotel is so pretty and the view is stunning when you open the door. Matera is one of my favourite cities in Italy. Worth to stay at this hotel when visiting Matera and then you must be impressed by the city atmosphere. Next time I will stay at least for 2 nights to explore the city. What’s more, hotel staff introduced us one nearby restaurant which was so yummy. Thanks so much for her recommendation.

The suite is large, new and clean. It is on the hillside overlooking the entire Matera. The location is excellent, and it is very close to everything.

Staying here is a unique experience. The hotel is lovely - very modern and beautifully appointed. We chose not to stay in a cave room, having read the reviews about the lack of door between the room and the bathroom and we also wanted a view of Matera - which we got and it was spectacular. We also used the spa which was a great experience. The location of the hotel is also good, within walking distance of a car par. There are a lot of steps into the rooms from reception, but there is a lift. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were really hard. I mentioned this at reception and they immediately brought us softer ones. There was complimentary water in the rooms and also a kettle, which was handy. Our only negative comments relate to the bar. There is a small bar area and an outside courtyard, which is nice, but the service was pretty hit and miss and we had to hunt around for a member of staff each time to get a drink. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have a snack in the bar one evening after a long day sightseeing and the food was poor. My husband ordered a tuna sandwich and got a club sandwich and my toasted sandwich was huge, poorly presented and not toasted. I know - we should have had something more Italian, but we just wanted a quick snack and a glass of wine.

The room was pretty and staff was nice. The hotel controls the AC and it’s very warm. The noise outside the room (128) was soooo loud as locals congregate right outside the room! They partied until 4am and because it’s public space there’s nothing the hotel can do so we had sleepless nights and the hotel did not do anything about the air or noise. Matera is great and we had an amazing time but wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. Not worth the price.
