Locanda di CasalMustia
4.2/524 Reviews
The Locanda di CasalMustia is located in a nice little hilltop town in the Tuscan countryside. Really need a car or scooter to get there because of it's distance from railway stations and the apparent lack of an obvious taxi service (a joining friend arriving via rail in Trequanda got a lift from a local). Once in Castelmuzio however, parking is free and there are a number of parking spots in and around the town. The town itself has a coop (little supermarket/grocery store - hours vary by day), ATM and a few restaurants and bars, the most prominent of which belongs to the CasalMustia. For anything else then Pienza (recommended) is a short distance away and has lots of amenities. Hotel itself is ideal for a short stay and as a base from which to explore the surrounding countryside before moving on to Siena, Perugia etc. We stayed for three nights and our room was tidy with comfy beds. Staff kept it clean with a daily service throughout our stay. Bathroom compact but good shower. Also had an AC which was a lifesaver in early September. One point on rooms is guests should try to get one facing away from the church tower - there's a frequent church bell which can be loud if you're facing it. Plentiful buffet breakfast (included in our price) is served downstairs in a quirky little restaurant. They offer everything from meats and cheeses through to different cereals along with juices, tea and coffee. The restaurant also does some very good food during the day and evening which isn't included but definitely worth a try. English skills of the staff ranges but we were able to convey almost everything either verbally or by sign language / Google translate, and they were generally helpful throughout. All in all, when you take into account the location, rooms, inclusions and quality of service, I'd say it's a very good budget to mid-range hotel considering the average price / night in the surrounding area.

Siena City Center
The hotel is warm and has a rich breakfast. It is suitable for self-driving outside the ancient city and has a parking lot. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the ancient city attractions. The room can see the Siena Stadium, but there is no competition, the stadium is under maintenance and the stadium is small.

Excellent location and a great little flat, but the lack of communication destroyed it for us. We knew we’d be late, and rang a day ahead to inform and make sure they knew. Unfortunately the young man who answered the phone had no interest, nrither in his guests or job. We arrived late and tried to ring again from the road, and send an e-mail, but no respons. We stood outside the locked door and rang the emergency cell phone number that we could see on a sign in the reception. Straight to voice mail. We could see the little basket with an envelope with our name on on the reception desk, behind the locked door!! Luckily the lovely family restaurant next door was still open and the friendly owner knew the code for the front door and let us in!! Slept in a nice bed that night, not in our car. Next morning we told the lady at the reception and she said she was sorry. Oh well, so are we. Customer service at its worse.
Fullino Nero Rta - Residenza Turistico Alberghiera

Great farm hotel! The farmhouse is located on a hill with a superb view and overlooking Siena. It was raining all the way to Florence, and it was raining in the farm. The sky in Siena was beautiful! The owner is a 70-year-old woman, very kind and very serious, and carefully introduced the nearby attractions worth visiting. Because of three people, we booked an apartment with a separate living room dining room. The sofa in the living room is a sofa bed that can be unfolded. The sheets and towels are very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the tea bags and snacks are delicious! When I got up in the morning, I found out that the original farmhouse had its own laundry room and it was fully equipped. There is a big supermarket opposite Siena’s out-of-town station. You can go back and buy the breakfast materials yourself. Sitting in the morning and looking out at the beautiful view of Tuscany for breakfast, enjoy it too!
Donna Nobile

The room is small, completely different from the photos on Booking. There is no care for details, in the bathroom only available towels for the body (do not face and bidet) and noisy windscreen. However, quite clean. Ancient and dirty covers, especially those of extra bed. A quite comfortable bed. Window without balcony (even this detail in contrast to what is written on Booking) that gives on a private garden, however very noisy. I requested cash payment without being specified on the booking site, for our reason any exclusion because we are only turning with the card. Good location but at the same price you can find better. Quality price ratio very low. Not recommended.
Castello Delle Quattro Torra

My wife & I stayed @ Castello delle Quattro Torra from Tuesday, 05/21/22, through Saturday, 05/24/22, in the Blue Room. Upon arrival, after ringing the bell, the massive castle doors were opened by a young lady, Gioia (”JOY-yuh”) who turned out to be the daughter of the couple who own the castle Gioia proceeded to load our luggage onto a cage tied to an electric lift that hoisted our bags 60 or 70 feet up through the open inner courtyard to a window through which she swung the entire load to deposit it in the open living area of the main level. She then signed us in and gave us an extensive tour of the place while pointing out interesting and unique characteristics of the 800+ year old structure. She also pointed out a ”private” area where her grandmother (Nonna) lives. We met Nonna later when, along with a woman who works at the castle, served us breakfast every morning. Gioia's poise and grace had us guessing that she was in her mid-20s at least, but it turns out that she was 16 years old - a gracious and poised young lady. I should add that the family owns not only the castle, where Gioia's father grew up, but a farm and vineyard where they live and have a farm-to-table restaurant, Ristorante Le Pietre Vive, where we had dinner that first night and where we were served by Gioele, Gioia's brother who was equally mature, poised and professional and, besides, had a superb knowledge of local vino which we sampled at length. All-in-all, our stay ”with” the Guerrini family was very memorable and included views to die for of the Tuscan countryside and the Siena skyline from the windows of our suite. Don't miss this place!
