What a pleasant surprise! I'm a chronic insomnia sufferer and extremely light sleeper, so nighttime noise is always a big concern for me. We had booked at the sister hotel farther down the road away from downtown and the party areas, but they weren't finished with renovations there yet, so last minute they had to move our reservation over to the Surfside Inn instead. They thankfully accommodated our insistance on a top floor room to avoid footsteps overhead. We were nervous, thinking that despite being late April off-season, this bigger building closer to town would attract noisier guests, and were really nervous when we learned that college students were staying there that weekend (and at 3:30pm we did hear them in the distance singing to music) but when we got back from dinner at a friend's house after midnight and tip-toed into our room, it was completely silent and the only issues I had with sleep came from my wife next to me! The owner and management really bent over backwards to make us happy and we really appreciated it. Beyond that, we were in a well appointed room (Keurig, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc) that had clearly been recently renovated and was in excellent condition and very attractive. The bayside view was wonderful. We had walked past this place probably a hundred times in past trips and I had always thought it was interesting because the pool area made me feel like I was time traveling into the 1960s, and the decor in the lobby and the room looked new but retained that 60s vibe. Not my usual cup of tea, but it works here and I enjoyed it. Breakfast was certainly adequate and their coffee was good.
